Bill will have the financial resources and flexibility to pursue key players via free agency and trades, to quickly return the Mariners to the quality of play you want and expect. Although, we've been asked by several season ticket holders about our interest in specific free agents, because of Major League Baseball's tampering rules, we are not able to identify the names of potential free agents that we may be interested in signing. In addition, we don't want the other 29 teams to know our plans." It's starts off with a brief apology and then continues with a 2 page refutation of Dave's position on Jose Lopez (including charts and graphs) and culminates with a rather unfortunate quote from Dave's high school guidance counselor. (And no, there was no mention of rolling back or holding the line on ticket prices. Also no mention of Melvin in the letter but no mention of either Ichiro or Boone for that matter.
