yeah... whatever you do, do not get rid of the old one. When I first started perusing the M's blogosphere in 2003, I found that article even though I had moved from Seattle to Chicago... It's been good for a gutbuster for me and everyone I've shown it to ever since. I don't care if your new version has the same motif, but keep the old one.

And I don't drink, so I have nothing to add on that, sorry.

Well then, here's a recommendation for "Bites" on 1st Ave about a block N of Royal Brougham. Sushi, Asian/fusion tapas, and other good food for pretty reasonable, including a big-ass $4 maragarita and quite palatable (and generously poured) $3 glasses of wine. Some not-too-expensive sake for those so inclined also. Probably not the top choice for beer but that's been covered extensively.

The name probably needs to be re-thought.

Has anyone ever ran into the alcohol enforcement doods at Safeco? Last year when I was watching Felix vs Randy, one of them in their maroonish (sorry, I'm not good at colors) shirts came up and practically stuck his face into my Pepsi, sniffing for any signs of alcohol. Prick.

Oh--I almost forgot--the Nitelite, next to the Moore Hotel at 2nd/Stewart, has $1.00 PBR pounders and $2.25 wells from 4-7 PM. It's got the second oldest liquor license in the State of Washington. Who has the oldest, I hear you ask? Weyerhaueser.

#27--Salute is no longer in operation. At 1st South and Lander is a great little place once called Lemieux's, but with new ownership, I think the name's changed. In the Market, I recommend the Pike Place Bar and Grill. They have $4.00 burger with fries, buffalo wing, chicken strips. The Can-Can also has a Happy Hour, and all the waitresses wear those "bubble-to-the-top" corsets.

I seem to recall someone touting a place Salute that featured a beer and shot (choice of liquor) for $5.00.

Do USSM authors get discounts?

If you're referring to Elysian Fields -- they will when drinking with me.

I love Pike's beer but that's just way too far for me before a game. Pyramid only has a couple of beers I think hold a candle to their glory day beers, and I am constantly irritated by their lack of sense about when to stay open, etc. I recommend Hooverville, south of Safeco, in addition to the soon-to-open Elysian Fields.

Cheers...

To be honest, I find the Pyramid Alehouse across First from the Safe more than adequate, and usually stop in there to tank up before hitting the turnstiles. Not a dazzling recommend, but it does me just fine.

Only within walking distance, then, not on a bus line or anything??
