163 - and aside from that, why would you want to be THAT GUY? That guy that gets a tiny thrill from voiving things that he knows will make others cringe?

I said this in a thread the other day, but why not just respect other people's conventions, regardless of your own beliefs?

If you (folks) would recall, Doyle got hurt after we largely dropped the Doyle monicker in standard conversation.

So saying it didn't work is entirely wrong: it worked, we stopped, he got hurt. If anything that would be evidence that it does work, and in going about flaunting the name now, you're tempting fate.

# 149: I think the boys are trying something different this year. Last year very little was spoken, and of course, the "Doyle" moniker was invented so they wouldn't have to use his name. And....we saw how that worked out on the ol' superstition/voodoo/karma wheel.

So, unlike our favorite hometown 9...the boys are trying something different this year. By all means, let's put up pictures, track his stats, heck maybe even say his name CHRIS SNELLING! I'm all for it!

Unable to tolerate the Rizzs-Hendersen campain for Hendersen Hall of Fame did a Dogpile search of his stats. It asked “did you mean Dave Andersen?” that is about how good his career stats are. He is so humble.

Actually that is less a matter of Henderson's bad play than your bad spelling. I have never heard anyone suggest Henderson for the HOF, because that would be plain silly.

Hendu was a fun player to watch in his early years on some bad Mariners teams. He played a good outfield, he had a big swing and hit some big home runs and was completely unable to adjust to major league curveballs. He consistently led the team in bats thrown into the stands down the third base line chasing breaking balls.

He was very good with Oakland in 1988, batting 304/363/525 and batted 324/410/606 in 4 World Series. Plus, of course, hitting the unfortunately memorable HR off Donnie Moore.

BRING BACK QUESTEC, at least for the minors.

I think the reason guys like Schilling got so mad at Questec is because machines don't give you "strikes" three inches off the plate, and umps didn't like only because they have giant egos and it didn't allow them to squeeze anybody or do anybody favors.

I think we should automate the calling of balls and strikes. The umpires are insufficiently consistent.

It hurts pitchers. It hurts hitters. It hurts everybody.
