It was only one at-bat, but I wasn’t terribly thrilled that Jimenez gave up that homerun to Gregg Zaun. Zaun hadn’t hit ANY from the right side all season (granted – Bengie got most of those opportunities), and Jays analyst Rance Mullincks actually said during the game, “I honestly didn’t think Gregg was capable of hitting a homerun to the opposite field from the right side.”

So Ryan Feierabend (I look forward to future spelling enforcement of that name) has a surname that means â€œevening celebration.â€ Itâ€™s colloquial German for â€œend of the workday.â€

And Ryan is from the Irish for “king.”

So, his name can be paraphrased as “King Quittin’ Time” or “King Happy Hour.”

Teeny consolation: the Angels lost 9-0 to the White Sox. Could thing we don’t have to play in Chicago again this season.

Oh. Wait.

It’s bad enough they lose so much, but these truly humiliating shutouts happened waaaaay too often this year. Mortifying.

it wasn’t Newman’s knee– “Third base coach Jeff Newman needs surgery to repair a partially torn left Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season. Newman has been slowed by pain in his left ankle over the past month, and tests this week showed a 60 percent tear in the Achilles tendon. Team medical director Dr. Larry Pedegana recommended surgery to prevent a complete rupture.”
