With Carpenter on the bump and an extra day's rest, he should be dealing (if he can get out of the 1st inning without incident). I can't fathom rooting against the Cardinals - Pujols is one of the few players I would pay large amounts of legal tender to watch in person. I saw him at RFK against the pathetic Nats last month. Pedro Astacio made the mistake of throwing a 3-2 curve right in Albert's wheelhouse and he put a coat on that hanger - a laser job off the facade of the upper deck, which in RFK is no easy task. Long story short, week or two more of watching Pujols > any alternative. It paints a much more enjoyable picture in my mind. I know the St Louis team is named after the bird, but I prefer to think of them as a bunch of aging Catholic clergymen dressed in red trying, using their ornamental croziers to fend off a hoard of Siberian cats. Cardinals vs Padres is always the hoped for clerical matchup in the NL. Padres or Cardinals vs Angels would be an interesting World Series, with some seriously metaphysical ramifications.
