What does everyone think about Bavasi’s comments regarding zito? In today’s time’s he’s quotes as saying they offered 6/99, and that it was a special exemption from ownership. If they’d got him it would have been like “found money.”

If it’s a one-year deal, it seems like a good risk for Seattle. No committment beyond this season, and he does OK in the first half of the year and Seattle falls out of the race anyway, he can be dealt for something of moderate value.

Weaver: depends on the price and the length of contract. He definitely has upside, particularly in relation to some of the other recent Mariner signings. Outside possibility is that the Mariners are actually signing the right Weaver (short term).

Does anyone notice how this was posted hours ago and there isn’t any kind of outrage that is even close to breaking the server?

Just a thought. . .

All I can say is I just hope Weaver is the last bad contract Bavasi is allowed to give out as GM of this team.

Having said that, look for the next bad and overpaid signing to happen right before spring training when we least expect it.

I don’t know contract specifics, but I heard Jered speak tonight, and he said Jeff as a Mariner was a done deal.
