Doyle. I miss him. I hope he kicks serious ass for the Nats (or whoever he winds up PLAYING and not just being a bench guy for).

Can someone make a half-Seattle, half-Washington Doyle jersey? I’d feel a little better knowing he played for the Seationals.

No. Thou shalt not worship Doyle in the manner of Laura Quinn.

Not sure what happend to my last quote (victim of the cyberspace phantom):

But the gist of it is that the Perry article is most interesting because a national pundit proclaims Snelling would have been more of a DH upgrade than Vidro.

Nothing off topic about my post. I should have made the connection: Perry overtly implies that the Vidro trade was made worse by the fact that Snelling would have been more of an upgrade.

I can't believe this, of all threads, is going off-topic. If we don't respect Doyle threads, what do we have left?

Perry at foxsports.com has an amazingly succinct Mariner preview. He uses pretty words like "leage average" performance, hopeful projections, Cy Young caliber, the rest of the division sucks ass...etc.

In short, the M's are better by accident (err...in spite of Bavasi; maybe in spite of Hargrove), but that might be good enough. Perry isn't perfect, but I think he steals from USSM to write his articles for the grossly uninformed...

The M’s didn’t trade him because he was out of options. Come on.
Miscommunication between my fingers and my brain. I couldn't decide between "part of why" and "claimed to have traded" and typed neither.

They traded him because they're stupid, i.e., they believe Vidro will be a better hitter this year. But the party line is certainly that they didn't believe there was a spot for him on the major league roster and he was out of options.
