Nothing off topic about my post. I should have made the connection: Perry overtly implies that the Vidro trade was made worse by the fact that Snelling would have been more of an upgrade.

Perry at foxsports.com has an amazingly succinct Mariner preview. He uses pretty words like “leage average” performance, hopeful projections, Cy Young caliber, the rest of the division sucks ass…etc.

In short, the M’s are better by accident (err…in spite of Bavasi; maybe in spite of Hargrove), but that might be good enough. Perry isn’t perfect, but I think he steals from USSM to write his articles for the grossly uninformed…

The Mâ€™s didnâ€™t trade him because he was out of options. Come on.
Miscommunication between my fingers and my brain. I couldn’t decide between “part of why” and “claimed to have traded” and typed neither.

They traded him because they’re stupid, i.e., they believe Vidro will be a better hitter this year. But the party line is certainly that they didn’t believe there was a spot for him on the major league roster and he was out of options.
