But I think a "tip of the cap" probably does describe exactly what those folks were offering to Raul. Most said "nice play, but..." which did recognize the effort involved. If Raul is your childhood friend or you're face to face with the guy, I'm sure anyone would be more conventionally polite. But really, among rabid sports fans? Seems like the USSM treatment is about as good as a failing player can expect. I know I'm not. What's becoming tedious is the non-stop trashing of everything Ibanez does which has gone beyond analysis of defensive skills into mindless naysaying. And magnifying Jones' defensive skills into the second coming of Junior isn't fair to him either.
