Thanks DMZ. My favorite of the lot was one I did with Howie Kendrick that ran a couple weeks ago--it's impossible not to like that guy. Have Q&As with Ryan Braun, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Kevin Kouzmanoff that'll hit the WWL's MLB page some time in the next week or two.

Now all I need is to make a pre-season over/under wager and I'll be a happy man. ;-)

I'm not sure if it means anything, but THT listed the M's as being one of the more aggressive teams in the draft the last several years. Thoughts?

Money quote from Forst: "you don't sacrifice a chance at long-term success to win 75 or 80 (games)". Maybe someday the Mariners will agree.

The draft just brings up the frustration with the Mariners and their fixation with badly overpaying veterans and not being willing to pay for high ceiling college and high school players.

You see there is hope for the Mariners "David Forst: I think the success cycle applies to everyone. Whether you're the Yankees, Red Sox or whoever," We are in a success cycle...some where over the rain bow way up... No really we are in success cycle.

#5 -- Yes. Well over half the teams do this. These teams not only want to remain loyal to Selig and the commissioner's office, but also believe that this practice helps the overall business model of MLB.

Keri did a GREAT interview with the D-Backs GM a few weeks back as well -- it too was on ESPN. Very thoughtful answers.

I always assumed that the slotting system would crumble once a certain number of teams began ignoring it. It is one thing for the M's (along with Pirates, Astros, and others) to compete against three to five clubs that draft over slot, but if half or more of the MLB clubs are drafting over slot, they would be forced to abandon their Selig loyalty as a matter of sound, practical business.
