If that’s Ichiro sounding pissed at the team management and “some people” (our “analysts”?), I hope we hear more of the same from him. We may see Ichiro and other players’ bodies scattered all over the ballpark after making do-or-die plays, but by gum “some people” will know they gave their lives for that Great Play.

I know this is a little late for today’s game, but Ticketmaster won’t sell you tickets on the day of the game. They don’t really explain that to the customer, however, but that’s why it looked like it was sold out. I’m pretty sure the only way to buy tickets on the day of is at the box office or a team store. Just a heads up if you have the same problem tomorrow.

This makes me more annoyed at Krueger, et al, than before. And what’s Ichiro’s mental state that he pays attention to such folk and doesn’t care if he injures himself?

The most interesting post-game tidbit was Ichiro saying that the catch was inspired by criticism he received in New York on Sunday. He was referring to the ball that the Yankees’ Jose Molina hit in the eighth that went over his head when he was playing shallow during their eighth-inning collapse.

Here’s the quote: “(Sunday), for some reason, some people thought I should have caught a ball. That really ticked me off. I said to myself I was going for the ball no matter what, even if I’m injured on the play. I had a lot of stress piled up from yesterday. Because of that, I don’t remember much about what happened. I just thought to let my body go.”
