You can thank Bill Plummer for ruining Fleming. Fleming pitched too many innings and threw too many pitches as a rookie. I liken Fleming to a left handed Mike Boddicker myself (most try and compare him to Moyer). Fleming and Boddicker both threw the big curve and lived by changing speeds. Fleming was a breath of fresh air for the M's when they were stuck in the doldrums of mediocrity. I wish him well in his life and new career.

That was a nice piece, and an interesting bit of history for me. I completely missed those early-90s teams, as those were the years I was away at school. It's nice to hear about players like Fleming, whose stints with the M's I never saw.

Thankfully, I came back to Seattle for good in June of 1995!

Dave Fleming is what role model is supposed to mean. And the only real justification for college athletics is to produce Dave Flemings.

That was a pretty amazing article. There aren't very many players like Mr. Fleming anymore. I wish I could have seen those things. But I was only a year old when Ken Griffey Jr. made his major league debut. The things I missed.
