Oh, and by the way, as of tonight Sexson’s OPS is below .700. .696. And that represents IMPROVEMENT.

Tonight, hitters under .800 = 9 (no pinch-hitters). Hitters under .700 = 5. Hitters under .600 = 2.

The Mariners roster is so bad and their lineup construction so poor that I’ve had to redefine my standards for a “good” lineup. In Bloomquist, Vidro, and Cairo, they have three players who aren’t major league hitters, with the latter two deserving to be released. Sexson is pretty bad for a 1B but at least his OPS is 700 and Johjima is better than his OPS so far. So I figure any lineup that contains only one of Bloomquist, Vidro, and Cairo is a good lineup. All three of them in the lineup and two in the first four spot — that’s not even a good AAA lineup. Glad I wasn’t home to watch.

Ditto. Well, except I turned off my T.V. and went upstairs. Just couldn’t bear to watch something I knew would be pitiful.
