So I missed the end of the game last night, then saw an oblique reference to Jarrod pinch running… I thought I must have mis-read what I saw, so I checked the box score…

WTF?! Seriously?!

Yup, Kenji pinch hit for DH LaHair, and Kenji got hit by a pitch on the knee or side of his knee and had to leave the game.

Cairo had started at first, Bloomquist had PH for Reed, so all that was on the bench was Turbo and Clement. I guess Riggles thought that Washburn was a faster runner and it was the go ahead run in the 9th...

I don't think Yuni will ever get his game together. He could be a fine player, if he could bunt and develop some discipline at the plate, but IMO that is asking for way too much at this point. He is what he is, and I think the M's need to toss him on the scrap heap in the coming months. That missed squeeze bunt said it all about his development and lack thereof. I think he has reached his maximum potential, and it isn't pretty.

It was tough watching JJ last night too. It was like anticipating a massive car wreck and then watching the events leading to the crash slowly unfold in front of the eyes. I guess it would be too bad to have to warm someone up as backup every time we put in our closer, but that might be necessary.

I think JJ has had a tough time with his injuries and playing on a bad team. I think he could still do quite well on a contender. I think Morrow should be the closer and JJ should go on the trading block. Unlike a lot of the overpaid M's, we could still probably get a prospect or two for JJ.

Silva. I cringed the moment we signed him, but I did not think he would be this bad. Ouch.

I mean, how often do you see your starters being inserted as PINCH RUNNERS for the DH?

in the early years, Lou used to have Moyer as his unofficial back up pinch-runner

I was really confused watching this game tonight. I was hoping somebody that know more about baseball could help me. Why would you pull a guy that is 3-4 with a HR and put in a guy batting .209? It made abolutely no sense to me

Then a suicide squeeze with a guy at the plate who bunted last night and looked horrible doing it. Tonight that was a pathetic attempt at a bunt. When I coached the little kids the bunted better than that. I wish I could meet someone that could explain to me exactly what this team is doing. I never understood McClaren, and Riggleman is better but at times makes no sense.

LOL # 117... Yeah you may be right, but still the fact that we are paying that much for the production we're receiving right now is absolutely ridiculous. I can understand Jarrod's pay (I basically divided the player's salary by 162 games) for what he did... I mean, how often do you see your starters being inserted as PINCH RUNNERS for the DH? But Silva? I think he has more value as a buffet spokesman than a ball player.

No, I haven't figured out The Interview yet...

If the ball was 20 feet above Yuni's head he might swing the bat...I love Yuni and all and love his story. He has a lot of promise, but 6 walks at this point in the season is insane...And for someone who is suppoused to be somewhat fast, 2 steals is very weak...Richie Sexson might have 2 steals. I have heard people talk about trading Ichiro because Yuni could replace him as a leadoff hitter...Now that is a joke

6 F'n walks? Any idea on the MLB record with 500+ AB's for least walks in a season?

Betancourt this year:
6 walks.
2 stolen bases.
Virtually no successful bunts.

Drayer says the team has and is trying to motivate him, Raul is trying, Adrian is trying .... Riggleman benched him last week, and when Yuni asked him why, Riggleman explained he had the worst OBP in the league, and that he was making it easy to sit him -- Yuni just didn't get it.

Glasgow asked if you could send him to Tacoma, and she said she is afraid that they'd lose him if you sent him down -- the best thing might be to get someone to push him up here, but at that point it might just be better to go get someone else.
