If he succeeds, we could be looking at a rotation of Felix, Bedard, Morrow, Feierabend and RRS (or a day of rain) next year, which wouldn’t be so terrible at all.

True...though what are we going to do with Carlos "OCB" Silva and his bajillion-dollar contract?

I think the question of whether Feireabend deserves another shot is exactly the right question. He's pretty much shown he's mastered AAA, and he stunk up the joint in the bigs last year, so isn't a relatively low pressure bunch of starts against the pretty good competition we're going to be facing the rest of the year (Twins, Rays, Yankees, and our division rivals) the kind of shot we should be giving him? If he succeeds, we could be looking at a rotation of Felix, Bedard, Morrow, Feierabend and RRS (or a day of rain) next year, which wouldn't be so terrible at all. If he fails, what have we lost?

I didn't look at Ryan Feierabend's numbers before I posted, I just assumed they were not great. They are good from the results based side but a bunch of regression coming. However it is only an 11 game AAA sample.

Sportszilla-
He could be... his numbers are not all that great at Tacoma but we don't expect them to be.

The reason to hangout no Washburn is to not throw some rookie into the fire. You are going to give Washburn money might as well do it so he can pitch. W's and L's mean nothing at this point so if Washburn isn't blocking a young player from coming up then have him eat innings.

If we had a AAA team full of guys ready to come up I would help Wash pack his bags. I just think of Washburn as organizational fodder for now, eating innings up at the major league level until we have a better option.

21 - Um, all mlbtraderumors really does is collect the various links into one spot. Not sure what that's a bad thing. If you don't the like the commentary that sometimes takes place there, fine. Personally, I think it's a very useful site.

Pettitte is denying prior reports that he is missing a start.

There has to be some way or another to confirm whether the Mariners have placed the Bus on waivers. If they still haven't, then they are beyond all hope.

Dave,

BEST
.
POST
.
EVER!
.
.
.

I heard someone say on Baseball Tonight last night that the Rangers would probably try to block any attempt by the Yankees to pick up anyone on waivers. I dunno how realistic that is, but it would sure be fun to watch. :)

#23...well, since the idea seems to be that RRS is coming up to take Batista's place (as in, the next turn in the rotation), I hope they're not waiting on Morrow. It would be great if he were ready by the end of August, but that's an extremely optimistic projection. With the rest of the season lost anyhow, why hang onto Washburn just because you don't have a replacement ready. Besides, doesn't Feierabend deserve another shot?
