Lincecum only threw 118 pitches last night. That’s not pitcher abuse. Letting him throw 135+ the previous start is ridiculous but then again, he’s never had arm pain and he appears to be a freak of nature.

Now 100 losses is something I can root for, if only that it continues to drive the point home that this ownership group is clueless.

Wow on the Lincecum line. It seemed like earlier in the year, Bochy was trying to keep his pitch count down a bit more…now, all of a sudden, he’s running him out there for a bazillion pitches every start like Jim Palmer circa 1975 — in games which still don’t mean anything for the Giants.

well, at least we’re not the ONLY fanbase who is freaking out. I can only imagine what its like for SF fans, watching Lincecum get ANOTHER complete game. Poor bastard’s arm is going to fall off leaving SF fans to wonder what could have been had he not had his arm thoroughly destroyed.

You and I know that there’s no significant difference between 99 and 100 losses, but the fact is the team and the media have made a big deal out of being the first $100M/100 loss team.

It may be the psychological barrier that gets Lincoln and Armstrong fired (or at least wake the ownership up to the possibility of such – “Hey, these guys really have NO CLUE how to run a franchise!!!”)

And when the team and the media talk about it, so does Joe CasualFan, and 100 losses IS a big deal in the mind of Joe CasualFan, especially as it will set expectations of caring to go to M’s games next year. Attendance lags performance, and as this year’s performance has been so dismal, especially given the off-season hype, the team is going to hit Kingdome like attendance next year if it’s not careful.

Now THAT ought to get the ownership’s attention.
