Seriously, the prognosis from May didn't look very encouraging:

Has anything changed to make surgery a less likely option?

The UW will be starting the fall term then, so perhaps Silva could work out with the women's softball team, and pick up a few tips from Danielle Laurie.

Since rosters are expanded to 40, I'd guess Silva comes up to the big league club and only pitches in 10-2 ball games.

Lets face it though, we're stuck with that contract. I would give him one last try next season as say, the #5 starter. If he blows again and doesn't regreee, just eat the contract and be done with him once and for all.

Silva is not in the minors, he is on the 60-day disabled list. In theory, he could come back in September, but they likely could drag it out with rehab outings until the end of the season. There are two more years on that contract, so I imagine he will be back at some point.

Sorry to spoil the news with an awful question, but what's Silva's status? Is he ever coming back from the minors? Are we just going to eat the rest of his contract? Will he ever pitch a professional game again?

Bill Kroger said “This team, talent wise is about the sane as last year.”. How can we get this ass clown off the air? He is just killing me. Who hires these guys?

Actually Krueger is not completely wrong in at least one critical area, the offense. The M's are 28th in runs per game this season at 3.95. Last season they scored 4.14rpg(26th).

Now obviously the defense is much better (UZR wise, but not error wise), and the pitching is better. But Krueger has a definite point looking at the offensive lineup.

"we gotta do better against the Rangers in that upcoming series than we did the last time we played them"

The M's haven't done as bad against texas as the record indicates. They lost one because the bullpen was shot and Felix was about halfway conscious with a serious case of the flu and only pitched because of the afore mentioned shot bullpen (still almost won that game). They then lost one in extras, giving up the runs after Kelley hurt himself. They then lost two more in Texas because of two Morrow blown saves. Odds are if Aardsma had been our closer at that point those two would have been victories.

I realize this is a woulda-coulda-shoulda type post, but my point really was just that the M's have played Texas pretty well, though the record hasn't indicated it. I'm very optimistic with Bedard and Felix going (who wouldn't be?) and at home, that we can take that series easily.
