Can anyone enlighten me on this: saw the game and recognized a lot of namesâ€¦but whatâ€™s the rough minor league equivalent of competition in the AFL? Double A?

Each organization sends four pitchers and three position players. Of these, one can be from below double-A, but the rest must be from double-A or higher.

Right now, Carlos Triunfel is a young Yuniesky Betancourt. He is pretty loosy-goosy about his game and his commitment to fitness and his plate discipline. I think heâ€™s less of a prospect than people believe.

That intel is a year out of date.

I think he’s less of a prospect than people believe. Michael Saunders, on the other hand, might be more of a prospect than people believe…maybe even ROY material.

I have to admit I missed the first pitch of Ackley’s previous AB, but I was listening and I assumed he took it for a strike. He then went on to take the next four pitches as well including two balls after a 1-2 count to bring the count full. When’s the last time anyone saw a Mariner take the first 5 pitches of an AB? I thought it was beautiful.

By the way, he fouled off the next two pitches before grounding out to Josh Bell at third.

Ackley followed it up by hitting a single to right on a 0-1 count. The ball was a bit inside on him, so it looked like he went with it.
