Last night, I saw someone with a Mariners hat and asked if he was from Seattle. He hadn't heard about either trade. By the time I gave him the whole scoop he was grinning widely. Thanks, Jack Zduriencik, you made my Chanukah. Does anyone have a copy of the 2008 opening day roster? wouldn’t it be something to compare it, Bavasi’s last, with the current roster we have now. How many Bavasi guys are still on it?

I was curious about this the other day. Of the 44 players that played for the Mariners in 2008, even just for one game and including minor league call-ups, only nine are still with the organization. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

I think his point was still accurate - by signing Griffey Langerhans was off the roster, an unfair spot for a good, committed, useful and cheap player. But, in the spirit of all things JackZ, everything has worked out for Langerhans, Griffey and the team. And the universe.
