I saw Evereridge for the first time in the series at Safeco late in the season. After watching him at the plate, regradless of his minor league track record, I immediately developed a bit of crush on the fat man. He has a good eye for the strike zone, hit's the ball hard and isn't shy in taking a free pass. I thought about him being a part of the M's organizational focus on plate discipline and am very happy to see this move to add depth to the 1st base position. Low risk move with potential reward. Well done.

OAKLAND A's fan here, and I'm really happy a QUALITY Major League team picked up Tommy Everidge today. If Tommy makes the big club he'll be an instant fan favorite. As an A's fan and a personal friend,we'll miss him here locally! It's great that he gets a fresh start with a good ballclub and a great coach in Wakamatsu.Don't be fooled by the fact that the A's put him on waivers-he's a good defensive first baseman and if given time will hit in the .280-.295 area with 20-30HR. The A's have mistreated him for years as Higher paid prospects have passed him by and done NOTHING after. He led Double A in HR 2yrs and batted .380 in AAA Sacramento last year, you don't hit .380 at ANY level by mistake.Doubled off the Green Monster off PAPLEBON then a week later the A's decide he can't hit right handed pitching. The guy can RAKE! He was stuck in a system where Billy Beane is seen as a Genius but us Oakland fans are growing very tired of the act-you can look at the recent trades yourself and see this club has NO direction.Oh and I didn't mention our idiot manager (Beanes best man at his wedding and BFF ) who's blank stares and lack of any enthusiasm or managerial skills make us long for Art Howe, when we could have promoted Ron Washington or Wakamastsu. I'm glad he's getting a fresh start and I hope Seattle welcomes him and gives him the chance he deserves, he will do outstanding both on the field and in the community. Just bought a MARINER hat today and I plan on wearing it when Seattle plays the A's in Oakland.

The Mariners resigned Josh Wilson back in December, so there's another shortstop.

Personally, I hope this guy makes the team straight out of ST, he went to the same university that I matriculated for my undergrad.

We just signed Chris Woodward last week, and Corey Patterson a month ago. We're stockpiling minor league depth everywhere.

I understand the plan B, C and D angle, but why the emphasis on first base? We don't collect short stops or 2nd basemen with this much enthusiasm. Last year, the Rainiers had first basemen playing left field (LaHair), DH (Nelson/Shelton), First Base (Shelton/Carp) and occasionally right field. LaHair and Shelton had about as good a season for the Rainiers as could be expected, yet even after Brayan was injured they weren't promoted, only Carp was. Did we really need plans B, C, D and E??

How much is he being paid? From what I saw last year he wasn't too bad. He didn't stand out, but he wasn't terrible. Who knows he could have a huge year in AAA make an impact on the 2011 team when we have more room. Another good move by Z as I see it.
