I just saw this story. If Bonderman wants to pitch in Seattle for say 3-5 million bucks, is he worth bringing in? This story mentions retirement which is a little scary but he’ll only be 28 next season.

Actually, it sounds as if - unlike most people - Bonderman has intelligently managed his money.

Most of us are living testaments to the fact that you don't need millions a year to live a decent life. So if you're one of the lucky few who will be paid several million dollars for even just one or two years, as long as you don't try to live like a rich person you have no financial need to work after that.

Is RRS afraid to pitch inside or “let one get away” every now and then? The M’s could use a nice brawl — they’re playing like zombies.

Imagine if Lou was here... the rubber would be implanted somewhere and it would take Minus a week to get rid of it...

If Bonderman wants to pitch in Seattle for say 3-5 million bucks, is he worth bringing in?

2007 was the last time Bonderman was better than average and able to stay healthy. This year, he's better than his 5.06 ERA, but not wildly so - 4.46 xFIP. He looks like maybe a servicable back-of-the-rotation guy. I'm not sure I'd go $5M, but a lower contract with incentive clauses maybe. I like the idea of loading up on cheap fifth-starter types and betting on one or two coming through as nice suprises.

Those do happen sometimes, you know. Well, for some teams anyway.

Just to add insult to injury, did you see who made an emergency start for the Nats when Strasburg couldn’t get loose today?

I liked Batista's comment: "Imagine, if you go there to see Miss Universe, and you end up having Miss Iowa."

Fill in your own punchline after RR-S' outing yesterday.

RRS is obviously done as a starter, but I think that after some time in Tacoma to generate some sort of confidence he could be a decent lefty in the pen. At least I would give that a try before giving up on him altogether.

As far as Lopez goes...he's the most frustrating player the M's have had since Bobby Ayala. He can't even make it 5 more days 'til the trading deadline so we could get something for him. He'll be out of baseball in a year or two. Until then, let him torture some other team's fans (KC Royals perhaps?)!

I think that we need to get the pitching machine that starred alongside Ichiro to replace RRS... At least we wouldn't have to pay per-diem.
