Bans

First comment bans today. While I have to say that I didn’t hope that we might see conversations as intelligent and civil as they’ve been, I’m still a little sad I put the blocks up. No big thing though… carry on.

It is disappointing, but inevitable. Given much of what appears in “comments” sections on other sites, I’ve been surprised how good (and civil) the commentary has been so far here. The additional discussion has added a lot to the already informative postings. Keep up the good work.

I agree with Pete. For the most part, the comments have been well worth my time reading. I, personally, have seen nothing that’s been over-the-top. I think they are a valuable addition to your site and hope the community here will keep the spirit positive. Thanks for having us!

It is a pleasure to be an arm-chair GM, and active fan with you guys. I think the fact that the conversations on this site have been mostly civil is due to the crowd that scouting, organizational depth, and sabremetric analysis draws – not your average fan. I was fascinated by the backs of baseball cards just as much as watching and playing the game. In little league I kept the stats of our team as the season went along. We had 4 or 5 players who hit over .400 – we lost in the playoffs, though. 🙁

Can we ask what the nature of the offending comment was so we can avoid crashing into the site’s boundaries?
