Minor League Rosters

They’re all out now, though you might have to dig to find them.

Tacoma Rainiers (official site)
San Antonio Missions (mysanantonio.com, may require registration or bugmenot.com)
Inland Empire 66ers (official site)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (official site)

I’m working on a new Big Board as we speak.

Any word on where the youngest of Boone brothers, Matt, (who was in our system last season) ended up?

Dave, are you surprised to see Cabrera starting in Wisconsin instead of the Inland Empire? Do you think he’ll see most of the starts at short or split them pretty evenly with Tui? Is there room for these guys to move up during the season? Is this a series of inane questions that I have no business asking? I recognize this is pretty pointless speculation, but, what can I say? I’m curious. I don’t really expect an answer if there’s other stuff you’d rather be doing.

    Jesse,

I’m not Dave, but here goes. My take on this is that they still believe in Adam Jones as a SS, and he needs to be playing regularly at Inland Empire. Overall, things are so crowded there isn’t much room for movement. Also, when the new BB is up momentarily, I’ll probably stick Tui at 3B.

I couldn’t find Shawn Nottingham or Chris Snelling.

I assume Snelling will be in Tacoma but I’d think that Nottingham would be in Inland or Wisconsin.

Jason: Thanks for being first with the links. Any insight on why John Austin-Emmons was advanced so aggressively to San Antonio? That was the biggest surprise to me. Since he needs reps, I would have thought that extended spring or Wisconsin would make sense. Even IE looks to have plenty of at bats for outfielders. Also, any idea where Casey Craig is? The lists highlight how weak the system is in outfielders.

Mo just got rocked by the Sawks. Muh hah hah…

Since Bucky (ferinstance) is on the ML roster, does he get paid the ML minimum salary, even though he’s on the DL? Could they outright him to Tacoma if they wanted to?

    thanks,
    jason

Snelling’s on the ML 15-day DL. No idea about Nottingham or Craig… they’re definitely on the “conspicusouly absent” list along with a few others. Some of these guys may have nagging injuries and are still down in Arizona for a bit longer.

The San Antonio newspaper speculated this week that Emmons (I’m pretty sure it’s John-Austin Emmons as opposed to John Austin-Emmons) is only with the Missions temporarily, and because he’s from the area. For those who don’t know, he was actually signed last year at a tryout the Missions held at their stadium. Perhaps he’ll be sent elsewhere once Billy Hogan returns from his steroid suspension.

Are there any must-see players at Inland Empire? Wondering if it’s worth the trip from LA once the Death Valley flower traffic dies down.

  10. Jesse on April 6th, 2005 2:22 pm

Jason, didn’t mean to imply you wouldn’t have the answer on your own thread, just got used to asking Dave minor league questions like that.

  11. Dan on April 6th, 2005 2:23 pm

    Wlad Balentien and Adam Jones.

  12. JAC on April 6th, 2005 2:23 pm

Only Jones and Balentien at IE are worthy of a look.

As for Casey Craig and Shawn Nottingham, both were left behind in Peoria with minor injuries.

  13. Paul Covert on April 6th, 2005 2:29 pm

I’d add Feierabend to the IE list as well. (Dave gives him a 6/8 in the Projects category of Future Forty– decent prospect but high-risk– which seems reasonable to me. Jones gets 6/7, Wlad 6/8.)

Man, Wisconsin has a few lefties… (sarcasm intended)

I recall asking Dave a while back, but hadn’t seen an update lately on him. Any word on Jeff Flaig? I know he was an injured draftee, but was supposed to have quite a bit of power potential if his shoulder ever held up. Is he even with the organization still?

  15. Ivan on April 6th, 2005 3:08 pm

Did they release Gary Harris and Carlos Arroyo? I don’t see them anywhere. And the Tacoma roster lists Greg Jacobs as being on the suspended list, but I didn’t see his name in the steroids report.

One of these days, I’d like one of you guys to tell the true story about Rett Johnson. Thanks, Jason. Keep those knives sharp.

  16. JMB on April 6th, 2005 3:30 pm

    Hey Ivan,

Jacobs is actually still suspended from last year, for failing a steriod test. He’s currently under an organization issued indefinite suspension.

Dunno about Harris and Arroyo (or Flaig, for that matter, though he did play with Peoria last year).

#15 Agree would be interesting to know facts or informed speculation as the future forty lists his (Rett Johnson) stock as rising. He was throwing better and was at onetime the top pitching prospect in the system. He stood out in Everett.

I’ll step in with an answer for Arroyo and Harris.

Arroyo had some cysts in his arm that they worked on in the offseason. They took and MRI recently, but he’s not completely healed yet. He’ll be back in Inland Empire when healthy.

Harris strained a pectoral muscle a few weeks ago while lifting weights. He’ll be in San Antonio when healthy, and I’d say odds are that Emmons is just there until Harris is all right.

  19. Joe on April 19th, 2005 2:05 pm

Harris will start tonight in San Antonio, batting sixth and playing center field.
