1:05 sure snuck up on me. RHP Sir Sidney Ponson v RHP Gil Meche.

Bloomquist sits! (gasp of shock)

Oh nevermind. That aint Baldwin. Too bad.

  2. Deacon Blues on July 17th, 2005 2:47 pm

I guess you can’t really call Olivo a rally killer on that one.

  3. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 2:48 pm

I don’t want to face Baldwin. He’s dominated this year with great K:BB #s, even if you factor in AAA.

  4. Typical Idiot Fan on July 17th, 2005 2:51 pm

It’s still James Baldwin. And the law of averages says he’ll even out eventually. Might as well be against (one of) his former team(s).

  5. Typical Idiot Fan on July 17th, 2005 2:53 pm

100+ pitches for Meche. 4 Walks. “Effectivly Wild” Gil? Sheesh.

  6. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 2:53 pm

We only have a 4 run lead. This is NO time to bring in Thornton.

  7. DMZ on July 17th, 2005 2:57 pm

I don’t want to face Baldwin.

I don’t want to face him either. I had enough trouble trying to hit guys who washed out of the minor leagues in rec league ball. Baldwin… (shudder)

  8. Typical Idiot Fan on July 17th, 2005 3:01 pm

That looked like a straight changeup to me. If that was his breaking ball, it didn’t break very far.

  9. Colm on July 17th, 2005 3:02 pm

I’m having trouble mastering the facts. Gameday is out of sync with the MLB online radio feed.

  10. Jim Osmer on July 17th, 2005 3:05 pm

So Gil Meche will be the worst 10 game winner in the majors?

IF the yankees wanted Leiter they should be drooling over our mediocre rotation.

  11. dw on July 17th, 2005 3:08 pm

Is the O’s defense as atrocious as I perceive it to be?

  12. firova on July 17th, 2005 3:09 pm

There’s that low and away pitch again.

  13. Jim Osmer on July 17th, 2005 3:11 pm

Nice game for Jeremy despite the bases loaded K.

  14. Feldor on July 17th, 2005 3:13 pm

Ah Baldwin…Forgot about him. One of the most unique walks from the mound I’ve ever seen. Those little tiny steps he takes allow him to leave the mound slowly while appearing to be hurrying at the same time. Very strange.

I maintain my faith in Morse, for the skeptics at 30 at bats, he’s well over a hundred now.

  16. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:19 pm

57: I know what you mean. Best pitcher I’ve ever tried to hit against was a 14th round Draft Pick in the 1987 June Draft, whose only real claim to fame was that he was the guy drafted before Ron Coomer.

  17. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:29 pm

BTW, I’ve never made contact with his fastball

  18. Goose on July 17th, 2005 3:30 pm

Tigers and Royals have a brawl today, which included Bonderman tackling someone.Check out the Royals site.

  19. Paul on July 17th, 2005 3:33 pm

    Olivo comes alive!

  20. Typical Idiot Fan on July 17th, 2005 3:33 pm

OLIVO! Our answer to Steve Finley. Crappy Batting Average, but good for a longball every so often.

  21. Alan on July 17th, 2005 3:33 pm

Alright Miguel, thats nice to see.

  22. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:34 pm

    friggin olivo is my hero

  23. eponymous coward on July 17th, 2005 3:37 pm

Is anyone else convinced Baltimore’s not winning anything this year, after looking at their defense?

I know they can hit, but GEEZ.

  24. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:39 pm

You’re right. It’s little league bad.

  25. Paul on July 17th, 2005 3:39 pm

Orioles look like a bush league team tonight, he he.

  26. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:39 pm

Let’s see if Spiezio can get his 2nd hit of the season…

  27. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:40 pm

    of course not.

  28. Colm on July 17th, 2005 3:41 pm

    76. That’d be a no. How much are the M’s paying him for that hit?

  29. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:43 pm

At this pace he’ll get 2 for the season. That’s about 1.75 mill/hit.

  30. Goose on July 17th, 2005 3:43 pm

    Eddie? In a nonsave situation?

    Did Hargrove lose his book?

  31. David J Corcoran on July 17th, 2005 3:45 pm

Nice route. Nice not catch. We’ll blame the sun.

  32. Typical Idiot Fan on July 17th, 2005 3:48 pm

Ballgame. I’ll take a split with Baltimore.

  33. Ryan Carson on July 17th, 2005 4:05 pm

Should I be concerned that 10% of Miguel Olivo’s hits for the season came tonight….and we’re on the 91st game of the season. Just wondering.

  34. Jim Osmer on July 17th, 2005 4:07 pm

If Spiezio had got a hit tonight, 50% of his hits would have occurred today.
Now pinch hitting for Scott Spiezio…Ryan Franklin.

  35. JPWood on July 17th, 2005 5:00 pm

Hendu just said on the post-game in response to a Shannon Drayer (sp) question about being able to win with an OF with as little power as the M’s:
“Yes, I think you can win with that combination, and you’re talking about Winn, Reed and Ichiro, but I’d be very surprised if that OF was the same one we see coming out of Spring training next year”
How much of that answer is from last night’s feed?
    Paris calling…

  36. msb on July 17th, 2005 5:02 pm

    wasn’t Hendu, btw.

  37. JPWood on July 17th, 2005 5:18 pm

Who then? with that nasal twang?
    The question stands, anyway.

  38. LB on July 17th, 2005 5:30 pm

#87: I didn’t hear the broadcast, but Mike Blowers has what some might call a twang.

  39. msb on July 17th, 2005 5:32 pm

Blowers, Huytler & Drayer are doing the postgame today. Hendu never sticks around past game time 🙂

  40. Daaaaan on July 17th, 2005 5:59 pm

bloomquist in july: .381/.435/.524 with 4SB

in terms of the rest of the team in july, this puts him second in ops behind sexson, and second in BA behind ichiro

  41. Colm on July 17th, 2005 6:02 pm

Thank you Judy for the past 17 days.
