More hot PCL playoff action!

DMZ · September 8, 2005 at 6:46 pm · Filed Under Mariners

The Tacoma Rainiers, who lost yesterday, again host Sacramento in Game 2 of the PCL Pacific Conference Championship tonight at 7:05. I believe you can listen on the internet via sportsjuice, here, or on 850 AM for those of you with radios. Go Rainiers.

    Go Rainers!

Livingston got three ground-ball outs. And last game he struck out 14. He’s like Felix-lite. Except not really.

Sacramento starter Ryan Glynn is apparently throwing a PERFECT GAME through 3 innings.

In the playoffs it’s never to early to start the jinxing and Curto, bless his heart, can only manage a “9 up 9 down” so far.

Luckily Livingston is holding his own, having given up two singles followed by two GIDPs.

(as I type this, Jermaine Clark triples. Whoops.)

    So far so good.

    Nice throw by Nunez.

It cracks me up that Andrew Lorraine’s in the playoffs. Any playoffs.

I also admit that I feel a pang of guilt for pushing all this Rainiers love when their ace closer is Masao Kida.

Yes, DMZ, and it looks like he will single handedly los ethe games for the Rainiers. No win for Bobby. Lorraine lets an inherited runner score then lets one of his own score. Rohn must be using the Grover book of managing, letting him pitch. And just think, if the Rainiers had Lopez, Bentancourt, Campillo, Felix, Strong, Dobbs, and Harris on their team now, they would be kicking butt. Felix, and Campillo (I know he’s injured) alone would have brought them the first two wins. The position players were all hitting well when they were called up so some good bats (at least in Tacoma) are missing. The M’s also make other teams bad. Their sucktitus really is spreading through the org.Someone call the WHO.

Oh poor Rainiers, losing 5 to 4. Oh well. The worst part is that they arelosing to the A’s org — Antonio is also losing 2-1 (games) to the A’s org team. Yuck. The A’s are just winning everywhere. No wonder they can let high-profile players go.

3 K’s for Bucky.Man he’s killing the team — he did get one hit for them that was an RBI but 3 K’s in a PO game. Jeez, I think Bucky is playing when he shouldn’t and he’s affecting his knee and chances for next year.

Wasn’t Ryan Glynn the pitcher of record who gave up Sexson’s game winning 12th inning single vs the A’s on 6/22?

  12. DMZ on September 8th, 2005 10:10 pm

    That was painful.

#10. I agree that Bucky is not ready to play. He walks with a slight limp, his timing is way off, he’s still playing with an extra 20-30 pounds.

My nightmare scenario is that the Mariners release him and he signs on with another team, who help him complete his rehab and get in shape. By mid-season 2006, he is a regular DH and tearing up the league. And worst of all, he looks good in that green and gold cap 🙁

Saw the game (as did Bavasi & Mr. & Mrs. Hargrove – however none of us sat together).

Bucky looks awful. FAT and RUSTY. Even the infield hit he had would have been handled by a 3B more competent than Hiram Boccachica (who had a good night at the plate). I’m really doubting whether Bucky will be kept on the 40 man this winter.

Livingston was good at times but did show his inexperience.

On a completely and totally unrelated topic, I was looking at a list of some of the best pitcher years in recent baseball history… Pedro Martinez in 2000 was ridiculous.

My first Andrew Lorraine experience was watching him pitch a CG SHO down here in Portland on the 4th of July. So my instinctual reaction whenever he comes in a game is “oh good, he’ll shut them down for sure.”

And in virtually every appearance since he almost immediately reminds me of his actual caliber of pitching and why sometimes first impressions mean absolutely nothing.

The Andrew Lorraine Experience would be a good band name.

I think his OBP would have to be better to get called to green & gold.

They could cover Uriah Heep’s Sweet Lorraine.

Perhaps someone could suggest a career change to him. Sandfrog’s looking for a new lead vocalist/incompetent Mariner, and a new name could help them break with the past.

Don’t forget, it’s Dollar Deal Day!
