Leadership is — having a more expansive translator? Answering more questions?

Not get picked off first with two outs?

Admitting you fucked up big time?

OK, I think Hargrove is an idiot who should be fired. Now that I have that out of the way, though, Krueger’s reasoning for leaving Sherrill in — that Swisher has 20 HR off righthanders but only 5 off LHP — is off base. Swisher has 312 AB against RHP but only 101 off LHP, so naturally he’ll have more HR against RHP. His platoon lines are:

    vs LHP 267/361/436
    vs RHP 244/358/487

Yes there’s a difference but it’s not all that huge. However, if you look at Payton’s lines you’ll see:

    vs LHP 298/321/538
    vs RHP 285/310/385

It’s not unreasonable to bring in Soriano to face Payton, since his platoon difference is so much more than Swisher’s.

#232 “Lets see, Ichiro will stand at his locker tonight and give some lengthy answer to a reporter in Japanese […] How refreshing it would be to hear a honest translation and thoughtful answer. That’s leadership.

Maybe you have trouble understanding the meaning behind the grunt, but I don’t… 🙂

    #235 “2. Disable Soriano…”

Some guy over on a Red Sox message board wanted to nominate Soriano for Comeback Player of the Year. Not THIS year, I guess.

#253. “Admitting you fucked up big time”.

I never have understood why fans think their favorite team’s players have to “admit” on-the-field mistakes. All you have to do is look at their faces when they’re interviewed. They KNOW they f’d up.
