I wonder how much free-agent money those two runs are costing Barry Zito so far … somebody should keep a running calculator on this.

  2. Jim Thomsen on October 10th, 2006 6:19 pm

I like Detroit, but championship teams don’t let players like Sean Casey bat third.

  3. joser on October 10th, 2006 6:19 pm

    Robertson starting again?

  4. Jim Thomsen on October 10th, 2006 6:25 pm

“Hi, I’m Barry Zito. You may remember me from my short-lived Fox TV series, ‘Putative Ace.'”

  5. Jim Thomsen on October 10th, 2006 6:30 pm

Barry Zito free-agent market before Game 1 of ALCS: $12.5 million a year.

Barry Zito free-agent market after Game 1 of ALCS: $14 million a year.

  6. Jim Thomsen on October 10th, 2006 6:37 pm

I bet the A’s are thrilled now to have all that foul territory at Network Associates.

Gotta love it. “Hey man, I was there. Where were you when I was sucking it up in the ALCS? Yeah, I thought so, you lazy bastard.”

    Mmmm…. 92 pitches, 49 strikes : 43 balls.

    No Ks, 3 BBs, 2 HRs. 1/2 baker’s dozen + .5 hits. 3.666 innings.

I take back my comment from a month or two ago about Gameday framing the pitch on the corner if it appears out of the zone and the ump calls it a strike. Third strike to Scutaro shows half a foot inside on Gameday. Honestly, with the poor angle on TV, it did look right over the corner, though. Strange.

Wow. At least they aren’t using people in caterpillar suits for money tree commercials anymore. Now they’re just bad, instead of really bad.

  11. JMB on October 10th, 2006 7:01 pm

Lauren, token chick’s buddy must be really bummed about that.

  12. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:10 pm

FOX could do not better than this for their broadcast team?

  13. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:11 pm

Woo! DMZ’s #1 fav commercial! Mellencamp be proud!

  14. msb on October 10th, 2006 7:20 pm

my, what has happened to the A’s defense?

  15. msb on October 10th, 2006 7:22 pm

so, is Fox going to put the other game tomorrow on a channel like FX or are they actually going to only show one gameper broadcast area?

  16. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:26 pm

Crosby, Ellis– AWOL, A’s on FX, Redbirds on FOX in the greater Spokane area (Yay! Fox doesn’t eff-up their baseball coverage FOR ONCE).

  17. Josh on October 10th, 2006 7:28 pm

    Ramontiago makes a cameo!

  18. msb on October 10th, 2006 7:29 pm

#15– answered my own question: “Areas of natural geographic interest receive ALCS Game 2 on their local FOX broadcast affiliate, while a simultaneous live feed of NLCS Game 1 is available on the FX cable network.”

boy, what with Kendall, Leyland, Van Slyke, Lamont, McLendon all there, I keep thinking I should be wearing my Pirates gold & black.

  19. Mat on October 10th, 2006 7:30 pm

my, what has happened to the A’s defense?

The same thing that happened to the Twins’ defense, apparently.

  20. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:31 pm

Tiger fans breathe a sign of relief knowing that Sean Caesy will not hit third for a while.

  21. Mat on October 10th, 2006 7:31 pm

I like Detroit, but championship teams don’t let players like Sean Casey bat third.

What happens if fate intervenes and prevents said team from batting Sean Casey third?

What happens if fate intervenes and prevents said team from batting Sean Casey third?

Then, championship teams let players like Ramontiago bat third.

  23. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:36 pm

Man, Steve Lyons is just a bottomless pit of baseball imformation.

  24. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:42 pm

Those Domino’s ads are just disgusting.

  25. Ralph Malph on October 10th, 2006 7:49 pm

    Did Casey hurt himself?

  26. Mat on October 10th, 2006 7:56 pm

Man, Steve Lyons is just a bottomless pit of baseball imformation.

He’s a bottomless pit of something.

  27. _MFAN_ on October 10th, 2006 7:57 pm

    Game 2 is on FX?

I don’t even think I have FX (what the heck is FX). Looks like im stuck with Weaver vs. Glavine. sigh.

  28. JI on October 10th, 2006 7:59 pm

FX is the channel that shows old reruns of “Married… with Children.”

  29. _MFAN_ on October 10th, 2006 8:00 pm

    Well then I love FX.

  30. Mr. Egaas on October 10th, 2006 8:04 pm

The most underrated show on TV is on FX. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Makes me giggle like a 12 year old all over again. So clever.

  31. JI on October 10th, 2006 8:10 pm

241 hits in 198+ innings?!? Holy crap!

  32. _MFAN_ on October 10th, 2006 8:13 pm

31- Just think what that number would be if he never faced Seattle.

  33. JMB on October 10th, 2006 8:13 pm

Yeah, but he’s a good one.

  34. _MFAN_ on October 10th, 2006 8:14 pm

wait, where you talking about Blanton or someone else?

  35. JI on October 10th, 2006 8:19 pm

    33

Must have been like Greg Maddux’s 1999.

  36. Nat Irons on October 10th, 2006 8:42 pm

The synchronicity of Piniella’s saying “he throws strikes” with Kendall’s having to fully extend his arm straight up was pretty hilarious

  37. argh on October 10th, 2006 8:46 pm

Have to say that Oakland put on a damned fine imitation of the Mariners tonight — starter blows up and they leave more runners on base than Bellvnue has coffee shops. At least our defense doesn’t usually look that bad.

  38. Mike Hargrove's Cameltoe on October 10th, 2006 9:07 pm

    Go Tigers!

  39. msb on October 10th, 2006 9:24 pm

I thought FX was the ‘All Mummy All The Time’ channel….

  40. John D. on October 11th, 2006 10:15 am

PINIELLA’S CLAIRVOYANCE (See # 36) – I thought the same thing. Perhaps some of the Rizzer has rubbed off on him. (“He’s batting less than .200 with the bases loaded. Oh, oh! It’s grand salami time.”)

  41. lokiforever on October 11th, 2006 11:22 am

Rescue Me on FX is a pretty good show. Sunny in Philadelphia too.
