First review for Cheater’s Guide to Baseball

From the Feb 1 Library Journal:

Zumsteg, Derek. The Cheater’s Guide to Baseball. Houghton. Apr. 2007. 256p.
ISBN 0-618-55113-1 [ISBN 978-0-618-55113-2]. pap. $13.95.
It’s been said that an athlete who “ain’t cheatin’ ain’t tryin'” and that “rules are made to be broken.” Zumsteg (coauthor, Baseball Prospectus) has written a lively and challenging account of cheating as part of America’s pastime, whether it’s the habits of particular notables, such as Gaylord Perry and his spitball, or modern day pharmaceutical legerdemain. He also ponders such issues as whether it’s cheating to try to bunt to break up a no hitter. No, it ensures that the game evolves and progresses! This one’s a sure hit.

Just a reminder, folks: RSVPs must be made to seattlefeed@yahoo.com to ensure attendance to game and pre-game events.

Also, the original notice had gametime at 12:05 pm local and people needing to be there by 11 am latest.

That’s now changed to 1:05 pm local gametime, people need to be there by 11:30 am latest.

    See you there!

    Yo D –

Where do we buy the book to get you the biggest % of cash?

#4 – Don’t refer to him as “D” or any other derivative of his name. He will only answer to Derek or Mr. Zumsteg. Addressing him by any other name is putting yourself at risk to feeling the brunt of his wrath.

    LOL!

Saying “LOL!” puts one more at risk of feeling Derek’s wrath, I think.

This event almost makes me regret my March 2 Meat Loaf tickets.

The temptation now to call him D-wrath is pretty strong.

He usually responds to DMZ. Just avoid D-Rek at all costs.
