Knowing is half the battle. Ugly websites that don’t change because they are unaware of just how ugly they look are a much bigger menace.
Any quibbles with BP’s prospects list? It’s pretty much exactly as I would have written it. Except that I don’t know half as much, of course.
I do worry that Adam Jones, for all his mad skillz, may never make the breaking-ball adjustment and turn out to be another Glenn Braggs or somebody like that.
Heh. If anyone has good suggestions on a blogger template to use, I’m alllll ears. I decided it was more important to get the site up, since I found out there isn’t going to be an official, content-heavy book site, and I picked the least horrible option of the six presented to me.
It’s not that ugly, other than the clashing colors. And that photo. Dude, that photo makes you look like the guy in highschool who was always trying to get the student council to finance his trip to Vegas.
Also, the thumbnail of the book cover is broken.
Oh, I have a whole post about the author photos. It’s hilarious.
Just an idea: Why not toss up a WP installation on the domain instead of using Blogger?
It would take a little more time, but not that much, and you could end up choosing a theme a little more to your liking. I suppose choosing might take a while though, it always does for me when I’m looking for design for something. 🙂
The biggest thing for me would be not having that nasty Blogger bar at the top. It just makes me think of all things Blogger, Livejournal, Myspace, etc. You’re a savvy guy and something autonomous would be a better look (IMO) for promoting a clever, funny, insightful and awesome baseball book.

Why would I, with my years of experience with WordPress here at USSM, use blogger? I am embarrassed to admit my long-time el-cheapo host for the personal site doesn’t support WordPress, and I’m too busy/lazy to move zumsteg.net somewhere else: there’s the research, finding a reliable decent host that doesn’t have a history of tolerating spammers, setting everything up… I know, it sounds dumb. But right now, the big tasks for me are “work on the next book proposals/support USSM/support the book launch” and I don’t have the time to block out for something like this right now.

i said what I expected to happen in terms of his SLG (between .475 and .495), and that didn’t match my projection (.510), so I fixed the projection (took away some doubles and a home run)

re: #5. That’s funny and true.
It could be worse though. DMZ could’ve used his driver’s license photo–those are guaranteed to make any person look worse than he is in real life.

What’s it take to get a book on a talk show. With all the congress talks going on with regards to steroid abuse, I’d think you’d have at least a small shot of plugging your book on the Daily Show or Colbert Report.

Have you found a Wii yet?
I have not found a Wii yet. I can’t bring myself to spend a ton of time calling, so my efforts consist of wandering by the local Circuit City and Gamestop when I’m out and about, so I have no idea if it’s possible to scrounge one up by phone.
On talk shows: It’s my sincere hope I’ll be able to pull that off. I’m working on it.
To be honest, the book-blog layout isn’t that bad. I’ve seen worse. Much worse. Though the author pic definately does give me an interesting vibe.
Oh wait, that’s just my cell phone.
Baseball this morning on XM radio’s baseball channel would probably be easy enough to get on. It’s also your market (baseball fans).
With most of the signings done, and spring training still a ways away I’m sure they’d be happy to have something to talk about on the air for a while. I think it’d be pretty tough to fill a 3 hour talk show on baseball 5 days a week this time of year.
Well, really any of the shows on the XM baseball channel would be good exposure. That’s just the one I listen to on the way to work!

I just spent a few minutes oer at the Cheater’s blog…pretty cool…I wouldn’t worry about the background. The content was engaging.
DMZ…you just have to cozy up to a Nintendo employee. They’ve got Wii’s galore in the company store. That’s how I got mine…
They are great family gaming machines. My kids are going nuts now on Warioware Smooth Moves…
Maybe Howard Lincoln will take pity on you and score you a Wii? Ooopps I think you killed any possibility of that with the Sisyphus post.

http://www.ps3seeker.com/wii is the site I used to help me find mine back in December. If you are willing to be one of the first ones to the door in the AM I see no reason that you shouldn’t be able to own a wii within the next 2 weeks.

A whole bunch of stores are getting more Wii systems on the 11th. Of course I’ll still be looking for one since my company shelled out money on 3 Super Bowl commercials they expect me to work overtime…
I happened across some Wii bundles online this morning. It appears that the online strategy for many companies is
1. Find current selling price for new, naked Wii on eBay
2. Add $50 to that price
3. To justify gap between retail price of the console alone and the price you just came up with, throw the two worst games you can find and something else.
4. Depending on the games you had lying around, label it “action bundle” or “family bundle”. If you can’t find a theme, call it the “customer’s choice bundle”
