Thank you. I will thrill to the all of the Mariner awesomeness of spring training.

Corey Hart with a three-run bomb? Nice to see him try to get to the majors twenty-some years after he had all those hit records in the ’80’s! 🙂

  3. Mat on March 16th, 2008 12:40 pm

Looks like these teams could use some more training.

  4. scott19 on March 16th, 2008 12:40 pm

Wow…Richie actually beats one out?! Better look out the window to see if the cataclysmic asteroid is blazing toward the earth…

  5. DMZ on March 16th, 2008 12:51 pm

Oh boy, reaction to the commercials. Can’t get enough of that kind of coverage.

  6. DMZ on March 16th, 2008 1:01 pm

Infield hit for Vidro! The magic continues!

  7. hate the bugle on March 16th, 2008 1:02 pm

Can someone tell me the story behind that retarded bugle that plays before every at bat? I loathe it and cannot stand spring training games because of it.

twenty-some years after he had all those hit records in the ’80’s!

Actually, I think it was one hit. Something about nocturnal eye protection…

But hey, the B-52s have a new album and are going on tour with Cyndi Lauper and Joan Jett, the Cure is going to be at Sasquatch, so why not? The M’s are having an ’80’s night this year, so get your skinny piano-key ties and acid-wash jeans ready. Or your parachute pants. It’s Hammer Time!

    Sexson’s now 2/2?! WOW!!!

Meanwhile, Rizzy just mentioned that Hideo Nomo, in comeback mode with the Royals these days, has failed to make their starting rotation. As if beggars can really afford to be choosers…

thrill to the sight of Cammie, loping in the outfield (sigh)

thrill to the sight of Kendall lifting his mask to spit! Again! and Again!

  11. joser on March 16th, 2008 1:12 pm

Well, thrill to the sight of Cammie while you can, since he’s going to be sitting for quite a while (not that we get much chance to see Brewers games anyway). Though he’s applying for a medical exemption for stimulants — I wonder if he can get that made retroactive?

  12. msb on March 16th, 2008 1:13 pm

in the radio pregame, Mac commented that he doesn’t look at average or ERA in the spring, that he checks the stats to see how many ABs guys have or look at pitchers to see arm-slot, consistant velocity, innings thrown …

Anyone notice Yuni looks a little bit thicker this year? Hopefully that translates to a little more pop this year.

  14. msb on March 16th, 2008 1:28 pm

    thrill to Bob Uecker!!!

  15. Mike G. on March 16th, 2008 1:46 pm

Uecker is killin’ Dave and Rick. The mic even picked up the sound of their sides splitting.

  16. argh on March 16th, 2008 1:51 pm

Caught one Lopez at bat so far and it was like crawling into a time machine back to 2007 — he went immediately to an 0-2 count and then went down on a flailing third strike at a ball that was way outside. I guess this particular one of Mac’s ‘challenges’ hasn’t seemed to have had much effect.

  17. thefin190 on March 16th, 2008 1:52 pm

Come on now, Sexson going 2/2 is as meaningless as Ichiro going 0-24. Its just spring training.

I know you’re not supposed to pay too much attention to ST but I have a feeling we’ll see more of the same from Reitsma in the regular season.

  19. scott19 on March 16th, 2008 2:02 pm

Hmmm…guess Reitsma may be Johnny Mac’s first officially designated Gas Can of the ’08 season.

  20. Notor on March 16th, 2008 2:16 pm

This just in: Reitsma still blows!

  21. PhilKenSebben on March 16th, 2008 2:20 pm

ARTHUR LEE RHODES OF WACO TEXAS /Rizzs

  22. scott19 on March 16th, 2008 2:23 pm

Coming this summer to RTN…Chris Reitsma and Arthur Rhodes star in: ARSON SQUAD – SEATTLE! 😮

  23. joser on March 16th, 2008 2:30 pm

Anyone notice Yuni looks a little bit thicker this year? Hopefully that translates to a little more pop this year.

He was thicker last year than the year before, too. Didn’t add any pop, but it certainly seemed to detract from his defensive ability. If he really is still thicker this year, he may have very little defensive value left.

  24. Wilder83 on March 16th, 2008 3:02 pm

    I enjoyed Ibanez’s wind-blown homerun.

If Qwest Field can pipe in noise, can Safeco create air currents when the Mariners are at-bat?

  25. PhilKenSebben on March 16th, 2008 3:06 pm

Anyone else getting a hilarious audio loop from FSN?

  26. Some Dude on March 16th, 2008 3:23 pm

Yeah except after 15 minutes it’s not so hilarious. Well, maybe it bets listening to Dave Sims.

  27. Tom on March 16th, 2008 3:45 pm

Couldn’t watch today, had a bad case of March Madness.

  28. avideo on March 16th, 2008 4:42 pm

We were down in Peoria in the first week of March to see the Mariners. There is an old guy that seems to get his jollies playing that trumpet. Don’t know if he’s from Seattle or not – but hope we won’t have to endure his crappy playing all season.
Nice to see Arthur Rhodes back on the mound. The fact that he’s throwing so soon after surgery is great in my opinion. Hope he makes the team.

  29. msb on March 16th, 2008 7:40 pm

Trumpet Guy is a Peoria regular, and only in Peoria….

  30. Jake N. on March 17th, 2008 4:25 am

This is off topic, but [deleted, off topic]

  31. Swungonandbelted on March 17th, 2008 1:50 pm

I hope this isn’t Sylva’s idea of pitching to contact….

  32. TV Producer on March 17th, 2008 2:49 pm

    25 and 26

can you explain the audio problem and tell me how you were receiving the broadcast. (which cable company or satellite provider)

  33. Slippery Elmer on March 17th, 2008 9:43 pm

Burke looked pizzed when Team Prez. Chuck Armstrong interfered with his path to the foul ball behind the plate. Armstrong was typically chuckling it off, but Burke seemed to be internally deciding how he could covertly guide his next passed ball directly into Chucky’s cranium. I LOLed.
