Bedard v Wang.

Sorry I didn’t get this up earlier, I’m still battling with the plumbing at Haus Zumsteg (I hate compression fittings, btw)

This bullpen is consistent. Reliable. You have to give them that.

    is it felix day, yet?

This team is frustrating beyond belief.

There is not a clutch performer, a guy you can count on when everything else fails, in this entire lineup. It’s a flawed team.

This kid Clement has a great eye at the plate. Nice.

  6. HamNasty on May 2nd, 2008 7:09 pm

bteddy- I would take a few guys that can perform at the plate anytime. In 27 outs they got 1 run, and only because Ichiro is an excellent base stealer. They had to use an out to get that run in. The definition of inefficiency.

Bedard was awesome tonight but i got to school in ny and i was watching the game and the stupid yankee commentators said that we didn’t really give up much to get Bedard …

Why do I keep making time to watch these games?

Let’s start cleaning house..and please…start at the top!!!
I can’t take another season of being a contender…let’s be a rebuilding team…maybe it will lower my expectations…

Bedard was fun to watch tonight…gotta love those Canadians *grin*

    *sigh*

Does anyone see us making the playoffs at this point in time? I sure don’t.

  10. HamNasty on May 2nd, 2008 8:07 pm

I think it would be much less frustrating if these close games were 6-8 losses instead of 2-3 losses.

Games where the M’s score 5 or more runs: 9-2
Games where the M’s score 4 or less runs: 4-15
Games where the opposing team scores 4 or less: 9-6

Bedard is amazing Felix is a God, but pitching doesn’t win games.

    Playoffs?

some guy on the postgame show thinks they could, if the defense and the bullpen and the guys hitting into double-plays would just get better….

I still can’t believe when they put these things up that they made some of those choices. The foundation is beautiful, the frame is great, but they ran the supply pipes under the driveway to a utility room and from there, they go underground and punch through a gap in the foundation wall into the crawlspace.

ours was one of those split level models you see on every street ’round there, with the basement cut into the dirt, and as far as I could tell, the plumbing laid on the dirt right under the concrete flooring. water used to come up out of the shower drain with great regularity. I liked the photos, they were most illuminating, and sadly more interesting that this game.

as is listening to part of Lou’s eruption yesterday as replayed on KOMO, especially with the added soundtrack of those who have covered Lou in the past– giggling at the fool in Chi who asked Lou if he’d thought about doing something different in the game (“*snort* you never ask Lou if he thought about something– he’s lucky he didn’t get a ‘son’ with that answer”)

KOMO makes fun of Lou, sure, but never is heard a discouraging word about the M’s. In fact, it’s a complete waste of time to listen to the announcers and “commentators” of Mariner broadcasts on KOMO or FSN. I understand being homers, yes, but when everyone is afraid of losing their job by saying anything critical about the team, that’s no good. It’s almost like the old Iron Curtain days.

Let’s face it, this particular Seattle team is a pathetic and lifeless bunch. The hitters’ whole approach to hitting is flawed, and the relievers are allowed to walk the ballpark without so much as a chewing out. The only thing this team has is starting pitching and it’s being wasted.

I hate to say it, but this team needs a Lou Piniella-type to come in and at least light a fire under some players’ butts. This team has way too many guys who swagger their way through life, convinced they’re the chosen ones merely because they’re in “The Show”. Or worse yet, players who make $14 mil a year and whine about being booed.

If I sound irritated it’s because when I watch this team it’s obvious to me they don’t have an ounce of guts. Winning ball games consistently is difficult work and the ability to handle pressure. This team takes the easy way out every time. A sad, sad excuse for a major league baseball team.

Alright, who had May 2nd in the “when fans start blaming the team’s record on a lack of heart and pine for Lou Piniella” pool?

Occam’s razor – this team isn’t losing because they aren’t motivated or have too much swagger. This team is losing because they’re a mediocre club, which has been obvious to most of us since it was compiled.

I think we’ll all enjoy the season a little more when we realize this.

    I did. Pay up.

Seemed like another typical M’s loss. I’m glad I went to see Iron Man instead.

    How was it?

    How was it?

Let me just say it’s a helluva lot more entertaining than watching the Mariners offense.

But yeah, Robert Downey Jr. kicked ass.

No kidding! I was getting ready to go out tonight, and thus was just getting out of the shower as the KOMO post-game was on…anyway, I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard one of the (five or so) callers who got through actually hit the nail bang-on by correctly pointing out to Glasgow and Valle just how anemic the offense has been. I started thinking, “Wow, how the hell did this guy ever get past the screener…they’ll probably block him so that he’ll never be able to get through again!”

    KOMO makes fun of Lou

they were not making fun of Lou. What was obvious is how much they all love Lou, and enjoyed covering him over the years. If they were having fun at anyone’s expense, it was those members of the Chicago press who haven’t yet learned how best to phrase a question after a horrible loss & a Piniella melt-down.

but never is heard a discouraging word about the M’s

so you’ve missed Glasgow on the subject of the poor defense, the poor offense, and the spotty bullpen the last week or so? it really depends on who is in there– Pitman is much more of a cheerleader than Glasgow.
