We’re doing the KJR gig today at 1:50, since I was a little busy proposing yesterday and all.

throw some water on the whole Griffey to the M’s, willya?

  2. slescotts on May 6th, 2008 1:48 pm

Hey, whaddya all think of this guy with the Braves, ‘Josh Anderson’. He’s listed as a CF, is pretty young, fast, can hit for ‘average’. Might he be a suitable acquisition for the Norton deal. He could play RF.

    [dupe]

  4. Sports on a Schtick on May 6th, 2008 1:49 pm

Let’s hope the M’s avoiding trading with Atlanta forever.

  5. msb on May 6th, 2008 1:50 pm

Groz seems to think you are ‘coming up next’ at 1:50…

  6. Sports on a Schtick on May 6th, 2008 1:55 pm

LOL. Dave the romantic. “Tricked her, conned her.”

  7. cgmonk on May 6th, 2008 2:02 pm

M’s to get Griffy by June?

  8. Jay R. on May 6th, 2008 2:11 pm

Arrgh I read this just a few minutes too late to tune in.

  9. Dave on May 6th, 2008 2:13 pm

I’ll do a Griffey post tomorrow. Please don’t turn this into a thread about Junior.

  10. RoninX on May 6th, 2008 2:16 pm

Yeah – I always seem to catch these threads right after Dave is off the air…. 🙁

  11. galaxieboi on May 6th, 2008 2:21 pm

Yeah, and Hank Junior is terrible. Apparently awesomeness skips a generation. Oh, wait…that Junior. Nevermind.

  12. slescotts on May 6th, 2008 2:35 pm

    Any thoughts on Josh Anderson?

  13. The Ghost of Spike Owen on May 6th, 2008 2:45 pm

Is it up on On Demand yet? Anybody got a link.

What about Tim Raines Jr? Or Tony Gwynn Jr? Or Tony Pena Jr? All three can really run, though none can hit his weight.

  15. Gerald on May 6th, 2008 3:39 pm

What’s going to happen with this segment now that Groz doesn’t have his show anymore?

  16. Rain Delay on May 6th, 2008 3:40 pm

12 – Whats to think about? The Braves aren’t going to give him up, at least unless something drastic happens. He’s doing quite well in Richmond.

  17. GoMs95 on May 6th, 2008 3:45 pm

Why doesn’t the Groz have his show anymore?

  18. BurkeForPres on May 6th, 2008 3:51 pm

Groz doesn’t have his show anymore? Really?

  19. GoMs95 on May 6th, 2008 4:00 pm

Man on kjr they have audio of the Groz talking about kjr taking his slot away. That is ridiculous. I say we email his employer.

  20. RoninX on May 6th, 2008 4:00 pm

KJR site says he won’t be doing the 1-3 solt anymore, just the 3-5 “groz with gas”

  21. msb on May 6th, 2008 4:01 pm

“KRJ radio host Dave Grosby announced today that he will no longer be hosting his solo show from 1-3 p.m. weekdays. His 3-5 p.m. “Groz with Gas” show will continue.”

  22. Dave on May 6th, 2008 4:03 pm

This was the last of my regularly scheduled gigs on KJR, yes.

No need to email bomb the guys at KJR – it’s fine. No worries.

Seriously? That sucks. That’s really f***ing stupid of them. This is THE best team oriented baseball blog out there (sorry LL) and to get to have Dave on once a week speaking to Seattle’s ignorant masses was a blessing for everyone.

All a slightly related note. Remember that game thread the other day about how cool it’d be to have Dave and Derek host a in-game commentary? My wife hit upon the same idea all on her lonesome during Mr. Silva getting kicked around the other night. I really think it’d be worth looking into if no one has yet. I’d pay for that.

  24. scott19 on May 6th, 2008 4:29 pm

Yes, indeed, that does suck! I wonder what a**clown is gonna wind up with that 1-3 time slot?

  25. scott19 on May 6th, 2008 4:45 pm

Actually, it’s Furness (just listened to the clip at kjr.com). They must really be shuffling their schedule around over there…wonder if Elise is gone, too, and they’re just going to an ESPN feed from 7 on?

Still, sucks that you lost that gig, Dave!

  26. JI on May 6th, 2008 5:04 pm

Is there a link? I can’t find it on the KJR site.

  27. joser on May 6th, 2008 5:16 pm

You know, if Dave and Derek sat around talking about the game as it was happening — just audio of them, no game audio or visuals — I don’t see how that would infringe MLB. They aren’t providing play-by-play or descriptions of the game, and they’re not making any money by selling advertising, they’re just offering opinion. Those of us listening to this commentary would still have to be watching the game ourselves, either on TV or via one of the live gamecast sites, to really have any idea of what is going on. IANAL, and it wouldn’t surprise me if MLB found something to get upset about, but I don’t see how that is any different from the live blogging of the game that happens here every game thread.

  28. thefin190 on May 6th, 2008 5:23 pm

27 – Dave and Derek would make good commentators. Its too bad they couldn’t legally do it without paying lots of money.

  29. juustabitoutside on May 6th, 2008 5:26 pm

Ummm, joser…I’m sure IANAL is some common internet acronym, but I’m unsure of it’s meaning…and a little afraid to ask.

  30. Jay R. on May 6th, 2008 5:40 pm

    IANAL = I am not a lawyer.

Hate to hear that Groz is cutting back. He has been a fixture pretty much since KJR went all sports. I hope it isn’t health-related.

I don’t know why, but I found this howlingly funny. Well played, sir.

    …But, I play one on TV! 🙂
