USSM/LL Event Information

As you probably know by now, we’re having our 2008 USSMariner/Lookout Landing get together on Saturday. I sent out a big email with information detailing when and where to those who have already registered – if you have signed up for the event and did not receive that email, please say so in the comments section of this entry, and that email will be forwarded to you on Thursday. If you have not yet signed up, we have a few more spaces available due to cancellations, so you can send an email to us and let us know that you’d like to attend. Because I will be traveling on Thursday, you won’t get a reply until Friday, but barring a huge surge of last minute registrations, I’m going to assume we have a spot for you and will get back to you on Friday with the details.

We hope to see you all on Saturday. It’s going to be a good time.

And, just to toss in a baseball fact, Felix Hernandez now has 500 career strikeouts, ranking 12th on the all-time Mariner list for career Ks. He’s 22 years old, and he’s 12th in franchise history in strikeouts.

I just wanted to be the first to comment on the fact that Felix Hernandea is 22 years old and already is 12th on the team’s all-time strikeout list. That says a lot about the history of this franchise that I have followed (off and on) since I was 11 years old.

I hope Dave gets to hang around through Monday:

    Monday | vs. Florida, 7:10 p.m., FSN | M’s RH Carlos Silva (3-7, 5.79) vs. LH Andrew Miller (4-5, 5.65).

Please tell me Felix has more K’s the Chris Bosio.

To keep a perspective, Felix’s 500 strikeouts would be 14th on the Blue Jays (who came into the league with us in 1977) list (right behind Roger Clemens!) and 16th on the Texas Ranger list (they came into the league in 1961!). So I don’t think it’s a huge knock on the Mariner franchise that he’s in 12th place with his 500 strike outs.

But there are no 22 year olds high on either of those lists – Felix is something special and could shoot right to the top of the Mariner’s list (Randy Johnson’s 2162 is tops) if he has a long career here.

He does have more than Bosio (24th place with 310). Ahead of Felix on the Mariner list (top to bottom) are Johnson, Moyer, Langston, Moore, Garcia, Hanson, Pineiro, Young, Meche, Bannister, and Beattie.

    I loved Mike Moore. *sigh*

Funny Erik Hanson story. During middle school my best friend and I would bus down the the Kingdome from Bothell for games on the weekends and some weekdays. We’d always be the first two there. Leftfield was general admission back then. So, we’d RUN to get two places like 15 seats fair of the left field foul pole for all the batting practice homeruns. Anywho, the M’s pitchers are doing their sprints. Remember, during BP along the wall? So we’re of course making fun of Krueger and DeLucia. Here comes of Erik. We havn’t got ANY BP homeruns yet and are startin’ to stress a little. So, Dave leans over the railing and hollars, ‘You’re Cy Young, Erik!’. And up comes our only baseball of the night.

Just wanted to say, thanks Mr. Young, in case you’re reading.
