The Bus vs. Eveland, 7:05 our time.

I’m watching the Tour de France while I wait for the game to come on. Woooooo!

Pretty normal lineup, Johjima catches, Clement DHs and is protected in the order by Willie Boom-Boom Bloomquist.

That is a great ad behind home plate. 🙂

  2. Paul B on July 7th, 2008 8:17 pm

OK, then he just did an Adrian and got himself out.

  3. xxtinynickxx on July 7th, 2008 8:18 pm

silly Beltre….sigh we still love you!

  4. msb on July 7th, 2008 8:19 pm

    amazing.

they just keep finding new ways to get out of an inning.

  5. Go Felix on July 7th, 2008 8:20 pm

    Kenji, come on.

  6. mearls on July 7th, 2008 8:20 pm

Is there some complex mathematical model we can use to prove that this team is horrible at base running, or is the visual evidence enough?

  7. David* on July 7th, 2008 8:21 pm

Kenji did that on purpose, then called Crap Pitch #3 right down the pipe. Should make for some fun in the post-game.

  8. HamNasty on July 7th, 2008 8:22 pm

Perfect time to tune in, nice meatball Bus.

  9. Go Felix on July 7th, 2008 8:22 pm

    Cannot stop the bleeding.

  10. xxtinynickxx on July 7th, 2008 8:23 pm

………and waashuburn needs to be pulled!

  11. msb on July 7th, 2008 8:24 pm

I think the Fairy Dust has worn off.

  12. PaulMolitorCocktail on July 7th, 2008 8:24 pm

Why don’t they serve Rally Fries at away games?

  13. Go Felix on July 7th, 2008 8:26 pm

    No chance, Ibanez.

  14. Paul L on July 7th, 2008 8:26 pm

@62: I seem to remember them doing that in the past.

  15. msb on July 7th, 2008 8:27 pm

………and waashuburn needs to be pulled!

just who would you replace him with?

  16. Paul L on July 7th, 2008 8:28 pm

…keeping in mind that Burke is not available.

  17. praetor on July 7th, 2008 8:30 pm

    washburn’s still an asshole

  18. Sports on a Schtick on July 7th, 2008 8:38 pm

Hiroki Kuroda of the Dodgers, through six innings, is throwing a… shhhh….

  19. David* on July 7th, 2008 8:40 pm

68 – and against Jorge Campillo of all people…

  20. wcf51 on July 7th, 2008 8:42 pm

Our fastest three players are on base…I think.

  21. wcf51 on July 7th, 2008 8:44 pm

But I guess it didn’t help.

  22. msb on July 7th, 2008 8:47 pm

it’s a wonder there isn’t more manager- strangling-player action in dugouts across America.

  23. Sports on a Schtick on July 7th, 2008 8:48 pm

WHO THE FUCK ON THE BRAVES TRIED TO BUNT?!?!?

  24. PaulMolitorCocktail on July 7th, 2008 8:53 pm

66… why, he only pitched one inning yesterday.

  25. Tom in Edmonds on July 7th, 2008 8:57 pm

Sexson … King of the DP!

  26. Sports on a Schtick on July 7th, 2008 8:58 pm

Bah! Double by Teixeria. Back to the M’s game. Huzzah(???)

  27. jefffrane on July 7th, 2008 9:01 pm

Richie Vidro! Without Turbo in the game, somebody has to screw up any opportunities with a DP.

  28. SequimRealEstate on July 7th, 2008 9:02 pm

San Diego down by 1 in the 7th, Colorado won. Ues we have a chase to regain the cellar.

  29. killer_ewok18 on July 7th, 2008 9:04 pm

Kuroda lost the perfect game because ESPN said he was throwing one.

  30. tgf on July 7th, 2008 9:09 pm

Kuroda lost the perfect game because ESPN said he was throwing one.

Vin Scully was talking about it for innings, as it is his job to do. Good announcers ignore that particular tenet of baseball religion.

  31. DMZ on July 7th, 2008 9:09 pm

    I don’t understand Riggleman’s platooning/pinch-hitting strategies.

  32. NF on July 7th, 2008 9:16 pm

I just turned on the gamecast after not watching the game at all. The first thing I saw was J Vidro hit for Clement. Maybe Clement’s tired from all that hitting yesterday.

  33. naviomelo on July 7th, 2008 9:17 pm

Nice outing for Washburn to go 8 innings for us here. Bullpen needed a rest.

  34. PaulMolitorCocktail on July 7th, 2008 9:20 pm

Yaay! A-Rod’s kids get to suffer through a divorce! Hooray! Break out the champagne!

  35. Lauren, token chick on July 7th, 2008 9:21 pm

Yeah, that was weird and not very nice. But y’all? One of our broadcasters just used “schadenfreude” on the air. That’s got to be a win. Er, a metaphorical win.

  36. zvazda on July 7th, 2008 9:21 pm

    83 –
It just infuriates me that the media will be saying what a trooper and team player he is. But he’s an asshole and he wasn’t pitching well, and he got lucky.

And he’ll probably have some more self-congratulatory comments about how awesome he was and how he could truck through eight innings tonight, but the bullpen couldn’t each just eek out one more inning each.

  37. zvazda on July 7th, 2008 9:25 pm

    Jim:
J-lo – Don’t wriggle us into extra innings here. Swing for the fences. Home run = good. Single = bad.

  38. scott19 on July 7th, 2008 9:39 pm

Yaay! A-Rod’s kids get to suffer through a divorce! Hooray! Break out the champagne!

And Madonna dumped a guy who, ironically, looked a bit like Jack McDowell for him — if the tabloids are accurate, that is!

  39. Mat on July 7th, 2008 9:43 pm

Vin Scully was talking about it for innings, as it is his job to do. Good announcers ignore that particular tenet of baseball religion.

That particular tenet of baseball religion is that no one is supposed to mention the no hitter to the pitcher. So as long as pitchers don’t watch the broadcast of their own game, it’s all good.

  40. joser on July 8th, 2008 12:41 am

That particular tenet of baseball religion is that no one is supposed to mention the no hitter to the pitcher. So as long as pitchers don’t watch the broadcast of their own game, it’s all good.

Right, but if none of us talk about it either, then it’s like we’re actually on the team too. Or so we can pretend.

  41. msb on July 8th, 2008 7:58 am

It just infuriates me that the media will be saying what a trooper and team player he is.

well, he is. It’s one of the few things he seems to have always done, suck it up for the team (in both senses of the phrase)

  42. buckleybats on July 8th, 2008 1:45 pm

If we move to the NL West today we would only be 9 games out! Somebody call Selig and make it happen

  43. scott19 on July 8th, 2008 2:50 pm

If we move to the NL West today we would only be 9 games out!

That tells ya what a powerhouse division the NL West is these days.
