Game 144, Rangers at Mariners

DMZ · September 9, 2008 at 6:10 pm · Filed Under Mariners

Padilla v Felix! 7:10.

I had one of the worst days of my IT career yesterday, for a whole host of reasons I’ll skip, and when I got home I was disappointed that I wouldn’t get to at least watch a game to relax. And today I get to work a 7am-9pm and miss at least the first couple of hours of Felix Day. I hope everyone else who gets to go out to the game and watch live gets to see something truly awesome, but I’m not going to follow the game because I am dying to get home, turn on TiVo, have a beer, and sit down to watch King Felix.

Have fun, all.

Baker blogs that Raul hits third, Lopez bats cleanup, Hulett is the DH, batting fifth & Yuni bats sixth. Beltre is out, due to the dye needed for a new MRI of his thumb, as they prepare to make a decision for his off-season; Baker also has a nice note about Ichiro and a make-a-wish visitor.

oh, and tomorrow’s game will be pitcher-by-committee, as Silva is out with the birth of his 2nd child [fill in your own joke here]

Silva is out with the birth of his 2nd child [fill in your own joke here]

    It needs no further explanation.

hey! Ryan Feierabend says that being up this time, he is more comfortable in the clubhouse, and that he has been picking Jarrod Washburn’s brain … and without even being noodged to do so by Dave!

  4. msb on September 9th, 2008 7:10 pm

weell, that’s one way to establish the fastball.

  5. smb on September 9th, 2008 7:11 pm

Hopefully he’s telling him to hide some Bardol on his chest…

  6. Go Felix on September 9th, 2008 7:19 pm

Felix is destroying the Texas batters one by one.

  7. Go Felix on September 9th, 2008 7:22 pm

The left field adventures of Raul Ibanez.

  8. MG8222 on September 9th, 2008 7:22 pm

Raul with a nice attempt at the catch, but he kinda whiffed

  9. DarkKnight1680 on September 9th, 2008 7:23 pm

He should never be allowed into the outfield again.

  10. HamNasty on September 9th, 2008 7:24 pm

I just tuned in, but i am going to go out on a limb and saying Felix gave up the double on a fastball.

  11. Go Felix on September 9th, 2008 7:26 pm

He didn’t really give up a double. The ball should have been caught by Raul.

  12. DarkKnight1680 on September 9th, 2008 7:26 pm

Felix didn’t give up a double. He gave up an easy flyball that Raul tried to “jump” for when all he had to do was stick his glove out and catch the dang ball.

  13. MG8222 on September 9th, 2008 7:29 pm

Great..those 2 runs go to Felix and my fantasy team.

  14. MG8222 on September 9th, 2008 7:31 pm

Jose and the M’s get lucky there. That was a double play ball.

  15. Slurve on September 9th, 2008 7:32 pm

Well Raul takes pride in his defense… Man if I was only on LL I’d show you all the clips of his defense.

  16. Go Felix on September 9th, 2008 7:40 pm

    Ohhhhhhhhhh Ibanez. Yuck.

  17. pumpkinhead on September 9th, 2008 7:42 pm

Beltre has that. Also, terrible throw by Ibanez.

  18. Go Felix on September 9th, 2008 8:03 pm

    Wow! Yuni!

  19. Slurve on September 9th, 2008 8:03 pm

Was that a good play by Yuni? Armageddon already WOW!

  20. JerBear on September 9th, 2008 8:04 pm

Wow, that was a hell of a play.

  21. Some Dude on September 9th, 2008 8:16 pm

    Two things:

1: Is the booth asleep tonight? I don’t think I’ve ever heard two more apathetic people “call” a game.

2: Did they edit “the mojo’s risin” out of the mariners commercials? I just saw one and it ended with “my oh my” which was either last year or 2006 I thought.

  22. G-Man on September 9th, 2008 8:21 pm

    Get him out of there.

  23. pumpkinhead on September 9th, 2008 8:38 pm

Wow. That’s at least 3 plunks. Who’s this guy on mound for Seattle? Does Felix have a brother?

Kudos to the Texas guy for not trying to tear Felix up.

  24. MattThompson on September 9th, 2008 8:41 pm

Man, I hope Derek is having a better day at work today, as this game will provide little solace.

  25. msb on September 9th, 2008 8:41 pm

Kudos to the Texas guy for not trying to tear Felix up.

oh, I think it is obvious to everyone that today Felix couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn if he was trying.

I guess Messenger won’t be tomorrow’s starting pitcher.

  26. G-Man on September 9th, 2008 8:46 pm

They said Jimenez would start. I guess Dickey is firmly slotted as a reliever, no matter what.

  27. Mike Snow on September 9th, 2008 8:52 pm

    Does Felix have a brother?

Yes, his name is Moises and he was pitching in the Braves’ system last year. No sign of him this season that I know of.

  28. msb on September 9th, 2008 10:04 pm

so, who’s left to pitch-by-committee tomorrow?

  29. msb on September 9th, 2008 10:39 pm

    Beltre has that.

post-game, Riggleman says “… only third baseman in baseball that gets that ball is Beltre”

  30. msb on September 9th, 2008 10:51 pm

“nothing was there, nothing was there, no comand, no pitches, it was horrible tonight … never been like this.”–Felix.

  31. msb on September 9th, 2008 11:01 pm

oh, and tonight I actually heard part of the Puckett/Nelson postgame. man … what is the old expression– the blind leading the blind?

  32. Breadbaker on September 10th, 2008 1:13 am

There’s a man who has season tickets about a dozen rows behind me. He’s an avid baseball fan. When I passed him on my way to the men’s room in about the fifth inning, he was asleep. He was still asleep when I came back an inning later.
