Anyway! Great day for a game. Baker reports Morrow’s not going to close until he works his way back into the position (Street reports otherwise). Baker also brings us photos of Larry the Cable Guy wardering around on-field before the game (who (Larry)deserves this response).

Larry the Cable Guy is the Mariners rally monkey of sorts. I think that is what Sims is trying to say…
Looks like Aardsma is gonna get a shot for the save in the 9th against his old team. Can anyone say drama???
Has Yuni wore the pants up look all the time? I thought he did the long, dragging in the dirt pants look.
If he did change, I love when players change their clothes as though that will effect their performance.
He he has seen 19 pitches today, maybe it is the pants.
I think Yuni and his pants have more to do with helping him remember not to swing at balls below the bottom of his pants.

The Red Sox have seen more pitches than the Mariners in only one inning (3rd) tonight.

Hey, NY Vinnie’s doing the post-game show tonight…
That brings back memories — like of the days when the team was consistently good.
I remember NY Vinnie from the radio in the mid to late ’90’s.
More recently I have seen him on TV. I probably could have lived without the latter.

Not that he’s bad at what he does. He’s actually fairly decent. I just don’t want to have to look at the man.
I’ve actually met Vinnie before…very personable guy. Though I don’t always agree with him, what I do appreciate about him is his passion for the game — as well as the fact that he’s not afraid to call the team out on occasion if he thinks they’re not playing up to their potential.
And that was something I thought was seriously lacking from nearly everybody in the post-game crew besides Shannon D. during the KOMO years.
I’m glad I attended tonight’s game. Yuni shows patience at the plate, Ichiro breaks out the whuppin’ stick, all the obnoxious Sox fans surrounding me shut their pie holes and leave with sad looks on their faces.
Most amazing is that the M’s have won the last two games I’ve attended–that brings their record to something like 7-33 when I’m there.
Due in part to economic reasons (as well as the team’s chronic suckitude), I was only able to make it to four games last year — in which, miraculously, they were 3-1.
Ironically, I went to 30 regular season games back in ’00 and they were 13-17 in those games. But the one post-season game I got to that year was Game 3 of the ALDS against the White Sox — which TOTALLY made up for all the sucky off-nights I suffered through all season that year. 🙂
I have a difficult time remembering how many M’s games I’ve been to over the years. My first was in the early 80s when I was a wee lad, and I probably saw 25-30 games in the Kingdome. Maybe 35. I’ve gone to the Safe perhaps 20-25 times since it opened. So maybe I’ve seen 60 M’s games in person.
I would guess, realistically, that their winning percentage is around .300-.325 when I’m in attendance. Despite all their bad seasons that’s still a pretty lousy personal record. 🙁
It’s fun to think about how your attendance “affects” the team. I’m probably around .500 for my career with the Ms (probably 70 or 80 games, starting in ’77), but I vividly remember 2001 when I was probably about 8-0. Of course, when you win 116 games, your odds are pretty good on seeing a win 🙂
What I feel luckiest about (my attendance was key) is all the cool things I’ve seen live over the years. Randy throwing a 2-hitter followed by Bosio throwing his no-hitter–probably the only time I’ve ever gone to back-to-back games, and that was only because we showed up for the game with tickets for the next night, so we just bought tickets. I loved the Kingdome–so many available seats for cheap.
I’ve also seen Bone hit for the cycle and later his 300th home run, Ichiro break the hits-record, Nolan Ryan’s last game of his career, and Griffey hitting home run 50 (I think) one year.
Of course, my only playoff contest was that bitter cold game three against the Yankees in 2001. So I guess I wasn’t undefeated that year. I was p**sed after that game. My attendance must have jinxed them 🙂
