Clement Pulled From Tacoma

Dave · July 28, 2009 at 9:24 pm · Filed Under Mariners

In the third inning of tonight’s game in Reno, Brad Nelson pinch-hit for Jeff Clement, who had started the game at DH. Ryan Divish reports “a fairly reliable source says its not injury related”, which would naturally lead to trade speculation. We’ll find out soon enough.

Will be interested to see if its related to balentien, or if its related to washburn, or maybe both. Checking to see if anyone else has been pulled on milb.com, kinda fun.

  2. DAMellen on July 28th, 2009 9:30 pm

    That’s not soon enough.

    Who got the reference?

  3. galaxieboi on July 28th, 2009 9:45 pm

Bah, I’m having a hard time getting any hard info on MiLB.com

  4. loveMeSomeStats on July 28th, 2009 9:49 pm

I’m thinking the fact that Aardsma is in now means one of the other relievers is in the trade.

  5. Seattle Mojo on July 28th, 2009 9:50 pm

i heard a rumor celemnt and marrow to cle then Cliff Lee to Tampa and we get there SS of the future and a pitcher

  6. jd2284 on July 28th, 2009 9:50 pm

James Jones also seems to either have been pulled, or he has an injury. I would be very disappointed if he is being traded, he looks totally legit so far.

  7. timbmyers on July 28th, 2009 9:54 pm

That would be awesome if this involved the trade that was talked about a couple days back. Kazmir and Brignac would be nice to see in Seattle.

  8. galaxieboi on July 28th, 2009 9:56 pm

No, Clement is going to the Orioles for the Wieters and my cousin. =D

  9. PositivePaul on July 28th, 2009 10:01 pm

I can confirm that indeed Bryan LaHair was NOT pulled from his start for Tacoma in Reno. So, hey, yeah, something!

  10. MsofEnchantment on July 28th, 2009 10:01 pm

Please let this be for Brignac and Kazmir. At this point, I don’t really see the Brewers being willing to part with Hardy or their top prospect SS given that they lost again tonight. Losing either one for a 2 month rental with 5% odds at the postseason is kind of crazy, despite what Ryan Braun wants. I think they’re in the same boat as we are with the buy/sell realization.

Add Snell to the mix and our rotation probably looks better than it did pre-collapse.

sorry about the multiple posts…I am new to this.

James Jones can’t be traded. You’re not eligible to be dealt until one year of your signing date.

  14. lightsabermetrician on July 28th, 2009 10:03 pm

Apparently they’re announcing a trade on the MLB Network when they come back from the break.

  15. jordan on July 28th, 2009 10:05 pm

Oh geezzz.. c’mon brignac or escobar!

    Doubtful, but C’MON!

MLB network, or the end of the M’s game.. hmmm.

  16. jordan on July 28th, 2009 10:06 pm

    I hear its Jed Lowrie!!

  17. DAMellen on July 28th, 2009 10:07 pm

People on MLB Trade rumors are saying we made a deal for Jed Lowrie? That can’t be right.

  18. mr_cysco on July 28th, 2009 10:09 pm

according to this, Brignac was pulled from his game…

    link

  19. lightsabermetrician on July 28th, 2009 10:11 pm

Some dude on MLBTR is reporting Wash/Clement/Lowe for Jed Lowrie.

  20. thr33niL on July 28th, 2009 10:19 pm

MLBTRs commenters are saying they saw a confirmed trade for Jed Lowrie on MLB Network…

    Uh..
But I’m watching MLB Network and they haven’t said anything.

  21. galaxieboi on July 28th, 2009 10:23 pm

ESPN news and MLB Network havn’t said anything as far as I can tell. Some a**hat on comments section on mlbtraderumors said it was Lowrie, Kalish and a PTBNL for Wash, Jeff and Lowe. I could make s*** up too to entertain you all.

  22. msb on July 28th, 2009 10:30 pm

So perhaps this says something about reading MLBTR comments?

  23. thr33niL on July 28th, 2009 10:32 pm

    mr_cysco,
That was 3 days ago, my friend.

  24. sodomojo2459 on July 28th, 2009 10:32 pm

Wash/Clement/Lowe for Lowrie seems like an awful lot to give up for one guy. I’d love to have Lowrie but I don’t see Zduriencik giving up 3 of our best trade chips in one deal. Must be made up.

  25. Dave on July 28th, 2009 10:33 pm

The commenters at MLBTR are not real sources of information. Stop repeating their crap.

  26. cjjpeterson on July 28th, 2009 10:34 pm

The whole Lowrie thing is nothing but BS. Guy trying to mess with the Red Sox fans. Haven’t seen anything else regarding Brignac yet though.

  27. galaxieboi on July 28th, 2009 10:47 pm

If you hear about something, anything for the first time from commenter at MLBTR it’s made up. The Pope is Catholic, bears do s*** in the woods and people pull other people’s chains at MLBTR.

  28. BackdoorSlider on July 28th, 2009 10:47 pm

They read it on the internet so it must be true.

  29. Seattle Mojo on July 28th, 2009 10:50 pm

ESPN- Red =sox offer at least 3 players including pitcher Clay buchholtz for Halliday

Not reading that site is probably one of the best things you can do to become a more knowledgeable baseball fan.

  31. fwbrodie on July 28th, 2009 10:52 pm

according to this, Brignac was pulled from his game…

    That was Saturday.

  32. Mike Honcho on July 28th, 2009 10:54 pm

Correction – Not reading the comments on that site is probably…

The links that mlbtraderumors provides are to mainstream media sources. They’ve actually cleaned it up a lot from its inception. I do there several times a day.

  33. TheMsfan on July 28th, 2009 10:57 pm

In defense of the site, all its intended to be is a site to collect different information from different sources, mostly newspapers and beat writers. It is a site though, that should most definitely turn off comments, because its got one of those names that screams “uneducated fan”.

  34. manifestus on July 28th, 2009 11:02 pm

I’m sure the minute any information is released someone on the blogosphere will hear and post about it before random commenters on a website based around trade rumors.

2 nice catches tonight by the kid!

Salk believes he’s the left-handed Jason Bay.

Meanwhile, I hope whatever the trade was involving Clement was a good one. . .

  37. henryv on July 28th, 2009 11:12 pm

I hear its Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay for Morrow to Cleveland and Clement to Toronto.

Just kidding, but wouldn’t that be fun?

  48. TheMsfan on July 29th, 2009 12:01 am

Churchill has some of the best sources out there, when hes wrong, its because things change. If he says that, its more then likely truth.

    Its going to be interesting.

  49. Breadbaker on July 29th, 2009 12:05 am

From what I’ve seen so far, I’m glad the M’s aren’t apparently dangling Michael Saunders. He seems to be far more part of the solution than the problem. If they’re going to trade Clement or Morrow or both along with Washburn to get something like a shortstop or second baseman, I’m all for it.

  50. RS on July 29th, 2009 12:16 am

Hey Dave, what’s up with Branyan not playing the past 2 games? Wouldn’t that seem to indicate something as well?

  51. xxtinynickxx on July 29th, 2009 12:19 am

In the clouds: Right now my head is filled with a 4 team trade that has Lopez, Branyan, Clement, Morrow and Washburn on their way out for big stuff……that would be so awesome to get something big for them!

Back to earth: Probably a good trade where we end up with great pieces for next year

  52. ErikG803 on July 29th, 2009 12:29 am

Churchill says he’s hearing Morrow and Clement for Kaazmir.

  53. TheMsfan on July 29th, 2009 12:36 am

Churchill was hijacked-hes not hearing that, someone signed up with a similiar name, all he knows is that Clement has been dealt and it could be a 3 team deal.

  54. wabbles on July 29th, 2009 12:37 am

In Jack we trust of course, but that’s too much for just Kazmir. It’s gotta be him and somebody else for Morrow and Clement. Those two scare me. They could very well end up going somewhere else and doing good/great things we never could get them to do.

  55. Seattle Mojo on July 29th, 2009 12:38 am

no hes not it wasnt him posting

  56. Breadbaker on July 29th, 2009 12:40 am

Branyan had a slight injury, needed some rest. Shelton certainly hasn’t looked bad either.

  69. sweeper on July 29th, 2009 1:51 am

just read this entire thread and a thread on draysbay, seems like most of us are in the same line of thinking with kazmir and brignac. can’t wait to hear what actually went down

  70. Bandit24 on July 29th, 2009 2:16 am

I’m excited to see what Jack Z is going to do with trading chips like clement and morrow. Look what he turned Putz into! I’m just happy that now when I hear that one of our top prospects is pulled from a game, I actually get excited about what we are going to do with him rather than brace myself for the imminent fleecing that I have grown accustom too in recent years…..

The Mariners removed former first-round pick Jeff Clement from a Class AAA Tacoma game on Tuesday and later informed him that he is about to be traded, one major-league source told FOXSports.com.

According to Larry Stone, the big name involving Clement in the multi-player trade is Kazmir (From ESPN Rumor Central).
