Game 136, Mariners at A’s

RRS v Mortensen.

Bill Hall in left! That guy’s crazy! Johjima behind the plate, too.

So ready? It’s time for that long-missing game, “Would you swap ’em?”

Position by position, let’s go. Contracts (and contract status) count.
C Johjima v Suzuki
1B Carp v Crosby
2B Lopez v Ellis
SS Wilson v Pennington
3B Beltre v Kennedy
LF Hall v Hairston
CF Gutierrez v Davis
RF Ichiro! v Sweeney
DH Griffey v Garciaparra

Or, to put this another way, maybe the M’s aren’t in such a bad spot.

Let us see one of those 100 MPH fastballs Lowe.

Great, we have to watch Normar go through his OCD routine one more time.

I always want to go wash my hands…okay, that was mercifully quick.

What got into Nomar tonight? HR? Big hit in the 9th?

Oh, no…just ’cause they’re only seven back in the WC after tonight’s game, Pittman is drinking his “gonna go all the way” Kool-Aid again.

    He’s an optimistic kinda guy.

Maybe he thinks he’ll be tall one day.

We went to the movies and left after the eighth. If McLaren were still here, wouldn’t he have brought in Batista for the ninth? After all, he was an “established closer.” Whatever our nits are with current management, they’re millions of miles past that.

RRS left after 106 pitches, though looked pretty decent yet in the eighth…and I think Wak went with Lowe just because he used DA two previous days in a row.

Ah, turned out that what he meant was that even if you know logically it’s unlikely to happen, it is fun to see games that “mean something”, which is a big change from last year

David Aardsma pitched an inning in the previous three games, not two.

You’re right, my mistake. I had that horrid 10-0 blowout from Monday night stuck in my mind yet, and lost track of a game there for some reason.

But yes, it is a lot more fun to play games that are at least somewhat meaningful in September than not to.
