There’s Just Not Much Going On

Sorry for going a couple of days without posting, but really, what was there to say? News is pretty scarce about now, and I’ve got some other things to tend to at the moment. One of those things will produce something you guys are going to love next spring, by the way. I don’t want to say too much prematurely, but it’s a fun project to be working on, and I’m pretty sure you guys will be thrilled with the end result.

Speaking of other things occupying my time, if you haven’t checked out FanGraphs lately, we’re blanketing the playoffs with coverage of all the games, plus tackling all the other interesting stories as they arise.

I’ll be back to tackle the 2010 Mariner roster next week.

    Hmm, what would I love…

I’m thinking it is going to be some sort of fangraphs/pitchfx data integration into the USSM site.

No need to apologize Dave, not after all the good stuff you posted immediately after the season finale. Thanks for all that. But come to think of it, something like a semi-open thread during a big LCS or WS game would be appreciated every once in a while. That way we don’t have to go to inferior sites and wade through steaming piles of crap. Also, when Raul comes through with a big hit or Ryan Franklin experiences some regression, it’s nice to be able to chat about it intelligently. Just a thought.
    Thanks for the fangraphs link.

You and the wife working on a baby, huh? Fun project indeed – good luck!

This time of year is often the worse time to be a devotee to a non-playoff team.

Given the rather ho-hum playoffs so far (three three game sweeps…), and the fact that we aren’t looking to hire a new GM this year, also adds to the dearth of any real pre-free agency electricity.

I can’t say I expect things to change much before the Winter meetings either. I think with the still repressed economy and more and more teams looking to spend less in free-agency while emphasizing younger rosters, many free agents will be holding out for whatever offers they can get.

Then again, we could hope that the same factors would spur teams to acquire players through alternative means, and we might see some exciting trades take place at unprecedented levels.

It’s much better that you wait to come up with something worth writing rather than just writing for writing’s sake. That’s why I love this blog above all else.

Also, when Raul comes through with a big hit

Such as he did last night…against his old M’s buddy GS, no less.
