Great stuff. Only thing that’s missing is explaining to Brock & Salk – and in turn, Seattle at large – that we don’t need a “power bat” to contend.
That octopus is cool, but he’s got some big shoes to fill. (I love me some wacky cephalopods: the mimic octopus, the dumbo octopus, the vampire squid, the giant cuttlefish, etc.)

Great way to restate everything that you have said here over the last few weeks in about 10 minutes. Always enjoyable.

I love the Brock and Salk show, and it makes me very happy that you enjoy being on the show. Salk is just too awesome.
Even more surprising is that they seem to agree that Griffey’s role is that of a pinch hitter and not the left handed platoon of the DH.
Nice to hear you on the air. I was just going to say what Luc said, that I was hoping you’d slip that in there somewhere. You kind of did without saying it, I suppose. Especially when right before you were on they played a clip of a commentator saying how all we need now is a Jason Bay.

I really liked the part about how the Mariners should just build a statue of Jack Zduriencik, give him a lifetime extension, and tell him ‘please dont ever leave, we’re building you a house right next to Bill Gates’.

I had exactly that happen with one of his earlier segments. But I just started chanting “One of us! One of us!” in delight, knowing the USSM borg was extending its tentacles into the ears of unwary listeners all over the state. Well, whatever parts get the show.
It was a a remarkable job of summarizing a lot of information into a very short yet very understandable chunk. And I thought the “what should they do next” bit was especially interesting, because it was a good question you hadn’t (yet) addressed here.
Well, “ever” is a long time — we can all think of people who were great at what they did but still stuck around a little too long — but that’s off where”ever” in the future; right now, heck yes. Extend his contract (and Tony too), buy him a house…. though I don’t think we build the statue until the M’s return to the postseason. A Zduriencik bobblehead, though, I’d be totally up for.
Caught it live while driving through the city yesterday. Very funny, Dave. The fast talking is excusable when the content is good – which it was.
Salk always tries to pose some dramatic question to the listeners following an interview, but with all the good things you said, I found his follow-up conversation sorely lacking.
