Felix Signs?

Dave · January 18, 2010 at 9:35 pm · Filed Under Mariners

Keith Law is reporting that the Mariners and Felix Hernandez have agreed to a “multi-year” deal. Let’s all hope that this turns out to be a long term deal. It could just be a two year deal that buys out both of his remaining arb years. Once we hear that it’s a 3+ year deal, the party is on.

1995, 2001, 2010 offseason. Just made my top #3 mariner moments. That’s it, i’m getting the Z jersey! How can the GM be my favorite Mariner. That is so loco i must be in bizzaroland.

Well, Churchill seems to think it’s around 6 years total (either six guaranteed years, or some combination of four or five years plus options), and given his connection to Keith Law I’m inclined to believe him. Plus, he nailed the Adam Jones, and Cliff Lee trades.

I’m going to go out tomorrow (later today) in my Zduriencik jersey and spend all day walking through downtown — in case anyone wants to give me a hug 😀

I probably woke some people up in my apartment building with my jumping for joy when I saw Dave’s tweet a few minutes ago.

Like Jack said at the meetup, it’s not just him that gets things done, so whoever helped to accomplish this — thank you!

Hey Dave, how long until you think Seattle wakes up to what Jack and his staff have done? (Start buying a lot of tickets…)

So tempted to buy a full season ticket package tomorrow…

Hopefully they will have waken up sometime before the M’s take the division next year.

My affinity for good wine and good conversation, coupled with several major car repairs, cutbacks at work and the stock market crash haved eroded my financial position the past couple of years. But I might be getting a rather large tax refund and significant book revenues soon. So a 16-game plan might not be out of the question. Cliff Freaking Lee and King Felix signed long term! YES!

    Matthew,

That jersey is freaking awesome! I need to get one of those (after I get my Gutierrez jersey of course).

The Team Store needs to start selling them. Surely we aren’t the only two that would proudly wear a Z jersey. Especially after today’s news. My jersey is missing the explanation point at the end…

You should have seen the look on my face when I picked it up. It was spelled DZURIENCIK. I pointed it out and 15 minutes later it was fixed. While waiting for it to be fixed, they apologized for the mix-up and I said, “No worries, I’m just happy it wasn’t spelled BAVASI.”

After reading through the comments, thank you for the laughs IwearMsHats and wabbles 😀

I think everyone here would happily take what he did last year for the next decade, including whatever regression you prefer.

While I am included in that group, I am certainly not forgetting that Felix has Doc Gooden type talent and could still take another step or two forward. With Jack Z’s patented defenSe behind him, might we see a Pedro circa 1999 type season during this contract?

    Happy Days!

How the HELL did Z pull that off?! Jesus Z

That only averages out to $15.6M/Year.

I’d put money on it that it’s backloaded with $18M/year after 2011. Just a hunch.
