Mobile theme issues

DMZ · February 23, 2010 at 12:05 pm · Filed Under Mariners

1. Some people are seeing the mobile theme while on normal browsers
2. Some mobile users aren’t seeing the mobile version

I can’t troubleshoot at least until tonight. Sorry.

Update: I turned the mobile theme off for now.

I am getting both of these problems, from both mobile and normal browsers.

The macs I use tend to have problem 1, whereas I have not seen it (as I can recall) on my PC. I only use Firefox 3.5. (On both PC and mac.)

My mobile is a Blackberry, and I do not get the mobile browser any longer.

Just to note my experience (PC, browsing with Firefox 3.5.8 on Windows XP). Got the mobile site when I originally visited the home page. Navigated to a specific post and that showed up in the standard version. The home page stayed in the mobile version until after I logged in, which seems to have switched everything nicely to the standard version.

I had the same experience as Mike.

Does nobody use Internet Explorer anymore? I had the same experience on my iphone, but I’m not complaining. Personally, I hated the mobile version.

Had the problem on IE 6 on Win XP(work comp); and Firefox 3.5.8 on Win Vista at home.

I have the iPhone as well and I was never able to turn the mobile theme off. Seemed to default to it whether I chose to turn it off or not. I don’t like the mobile theme either, but love the website either way!

I got the mobile theme on my work computer for a few days last week (but they are having all around internet issues with all websites not loading every time or not loading completely every time). It’s been working fine for a while now though.

I always get the full theme on my Kindle rather than the mobile theme. I don’t know how Kindles show up to browser detection scripts.

For what it’s worth, I can’t look at the site for more than a minute or so at a time on my Kindle without wanting to throw the thing across the room. The mobile theme would view perfectly on that particular device.

Please don’t give up on the mobile theme. For us seniors…readability is a big issue on our smartphones. Thanks. Keep up the great work.

Agreed. Hope you can get things operating correctly again.
