Game 18, Mariners at White Sox

Fister vs Garcia, 1:10 pm.

Garcia isn’t anything like the guy he used to be in Seattle. He’s now a command guy who throws a ton of junk, but he’s struggled with his command in his first two starts and the results have been predictably terrible. Fister tries to keep the run going, and he’ll have to keep the ball down if he wants to succeed. A righty heavy White Sox line-up should play into his favor, though.

    Thanks idiot fan.

  2. juneau_fan on April 24th, 2010 3:30 pm

What, in all that is holy, would make any fan think they should pick up that ball? It was still rolling!!

  3. G-Man on April 24th, 2010 3:30 pm

Keep yelling Ozzie, gives DA more time to warm up.

  4. kbarnhouse on April 24th, 2010 3:30 pm

Ozzie has no argument, Wilson would have been safe by a mile.

  5. naviomelo on April 24th, 2010 3:30 pm

    KOTCHMAN!!!

  6. zzyzx on April 24th, 2010 3:31 pm

Looks like fan is about to be kicked out.

  7. juneau_fan on April 24th, 2010 3:32 pm

I hope they kick him out. (Now that we have the runs) Not that it doesn’t seem to do any good, since people keep doing it.

  8. kbarnhouse on April 24th, 2010 3:33 pm

He can tell quite the story when he gets home though about how he made Ozzie freak out as well as 40,000 other fans.

  9. Dirk on April 24th, 2010 3:33 pm

Kotchman may not look as cool as Branyan, but hey, I’ll take it

  10. egreenlaw9 on April 24th, 2010 3:33 pm

Fox announcer just said the ball would have “triculated” down in the corner…

  11. joser on April 24th, 2010 3:36 pm

But would it have gone into the corner, or bounced off the wall?

Even if it had, Wilson was going full tilt and would’ve made it.

What, in all that is holy, would make any fan think they should pick up that ball? It was still rolling!!

Oooh, bouncy rolling thing! Must have! My precious!

He can tell quite the story when he gets home though about how he made Ozzie freak out as well as 40,000 other fans.

Maybe he can move in with Bartman.

  12. enazario on April 24th, 2010 3:36 pm

I heard Tim say “matriculate” which would be even wronger than triculate.

  13. juneau_fan on April 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

Is AA going to do that scary dark beard with the bald head thing? *shudder*

  14. wescottr on April 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

what a stud outing from fister in a homer happy ball park

  15. enazario on April 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

    Byrnes was safe BTW.

  16. zzyzx on April 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

Wow and now that call is crucial.

  17. Flowin on April 24th, 2010 3:38 pm

Ruh roh. How big is that fan-interference call now?

  18. kbarnhouse on April 24th, 2010 3:38 pm

    Don’t do that again DA

  19. Stevenrey on April 24th, 2010 3:39 pm

    DA’s got this.

  20. G-Man on April 24th, 2010 3:39 pm

Ozzie is REALLY mad about that call now.

But McCarver has a point in that a 2-run lead, vs. 1, might affect the pitcher’s approach.

  21. enazario on April 24th, 2010 3:42 pm

How big was Byrnes near catch on the wall?

  22. G-Man on April 24th, 2010 3:42 pm

Props to Wak for using Wilson to pinch run. I was thinking that he’d have to leave Griffey in with Byrnes already in the game.

  23. Flowin on April 24th, 2010 3:43 pm

This is nerve-racking… I REALLY didn’t want to have to face Rios.

  24. zzyzx on April 24th, 2010 3:44 pm

    Sigh… back to .500

  25. Stevenrey on April 24th, 2010 3:44 pm

    Wow

  26. G-Man on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

That was a room service fastball.

  27. Dirk on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

    2 F###ing nights in a row!

  28. kbarnhouse on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

    That’s really irritating.

  29. lucky on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

    Bad.

  30. joser on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

    Well that sucked.

  31. Marinersmanjk on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

Atta baby Aardsma. Way to blow another.

  32. fiftyone on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

    Ugh.

  33. Flowin on April 24th, 2010 3:45 pm

Pardon my language.. but this is un-fucking real.

Wow. I can’t believe we lost that

  34. illdonk on April 24th, 2010 3:47 pm

    No. No. No. No.

  35. Coolalvin206 on April 24th, 2010 3:47 pm

Nice ! 2 gut wrenching bottom of the 9th losses in a row!

  36. JMHawkins on April 24th, 2010 3:48 pm

    What joser said.

  37. skatchmo on April 24th, 2010 3:54 pm

OK, what are these things on the side of the White Sox players necks? Because at first glance, I feel like they’re tiny bandages that make people hit walk off home runs. That can’t be legal.

  38. Chris_From_Bothell on April 24th, 2010 3:55 pm

    Ugh.

Well, at least we know for certain that Fister is staying in the rotation when Lee gets back.

  39. bram on April 24th, 2010 3:58 pm

Run prevention, as implemented by the M’s FO this year, isn’t likely to be nearly as effective outside of Safeco Field, where you don’t have the luxury of making bad pitches and allowing long fly balls and when you don’t have the last at-bat. When the relievers have razor thin margins of error in virtually every game on the road, they’re going to make mistakes like this a fair amount. Get used to losing one-run and walk-off games on the road – unless they improve their offense, the M’s may set a record for those.
