Game 27, Rays at Mariners

Dave · May 5, 2010 at 6:00 pm · Filed Under Mariners

Garza vs Lee, 7:10 pm.

Yes, there’s a game tonight. No, Milton Bradley isn’t going to play in it.

Lee looks to repeat his ridiculously impressive debut from last Friday, and he might have to be even better than he was then, as the M’s face Matt Garza, one of the toughest righties in the league. Wak jumbles the line-up a little bit to accommodate Ryan Langerhans, who is in left field.

Ichiro, RF
Figgins, 2B
Kotchman, 1B
Gutierrez, CF
Griffey, DH
Lopez, 2B
Langerhans, LF
Wilson, SS
Johnson, C

    Guti at cleanup? Love it!

  2. flashbeak on May 5th, 2010 6:05 pm

Milton is punished for striking out twice, but Jack Wilson’s three errors keep him in the lineup. Let’s be consistent here Wak.

I’m hoping shifting Kotchman up in the lineup may translate into him breaking out of his slump more or less.

  3. gerrythek on May 5th, 2010 6:09 pm

The problem is that this team has NO 3-4-5 hitters. Lopez, Bradley et al would be fine in the 6-7 holes as they would be in any other AL team, especially contenders. Maybe Milton wouldn’t feel as much pressure if he was batting 7th.

  4. Coolalvin206 on May 5th, 2010 6:10 pm

    Look at this post later…

I guarantee a Mariner victory tonight!

  5. henryv on May 5th, 2010 6:19 pm

This is how Wak actually wrote the line-up:

    1. Ichiro, RF
    2. Figgins, 2B
    3. Kotchman, 1B
    4. Gutierrez, CF
    9. Griffey, DH
    9. Lopez, 2B
    9. Langerhans, LF
    9. Wilson, SS
    9. Johnson, C

  6. Chris_From_Bothell on May 5th, 2010 6:19 pm

Grief-y at DH? Hurray for being slaves to lefty-righty matchups. Play Sweeney so we can see once n for all whether he’s done…

  7. MrZDevotee on May 5th, 2010 6:20 pm

    Flash–
Milton actually went to the M’s management today and asked for their help in dealing with his personal demons… Plus they all agreed that he’d take a couple days off to sort out some personal things. (True story.)

That, and Jack Wilson is a damned good short stop.

  8. lokiforever on May 5th, 2010 6:26 pm

With a LHP starting, wouldn’t we better served covering the left side of the infield a bit more.

  9. lesch2k on May 5th, 2010 6:29 pm

since i didnt see it here yet:
    http://blog.seattlepi.com/baseball/archives/204832.asp

Lowe on DL, Kelley back on team.

  10. johnfree63 on May 5th, 2010 6:33 pm

Lowe on DL, Kelley back on team.

Woo Hoo! The M’s brought Kelley up so he can watch inferior pitchers get more innings then him. Awesome!

  11. Xteve X on May 5th, 2010 6:42 pm

Figgins and Lopez both at 2B? :)

  12. Brendan on May 5th, 2010 6:43 pm

Unless yahoo is malfunctioning (like it was last year) I believe it is Josh Wilson starting at shortstop tonight.

  13. luckyscrubs on May 5th, 2010 6:50 pm

A win tonight would be very, very good. *fingers crossed*

  14. Grayfox3d on May 5th, 2010 6:51 pm

I personally would love to see Langerhans get a couple of hits tonight, I wanna see him do well.

  15. Paul B on May 5th, 2010 6:57 pm

Dave, why do you always put Lopez at second base? I must not get the joke or something.

  16. Liam on May 5th, 2010 7:10 pm

    This crowd is sparse.

  17. tubbabubba22 on May 5th, 2010 7:17 pm

yikes. 10,000 maybe? That is pathetic. We need to start winning so more people feel motivated to go to the games!

  18. Dave Spiwak on May 5th, 2010 7:23 pm

    First ball swinging Figgy? WTF!

  19. Coolalvin206 on May 5th, 2010 7:24 pm

Knock me over with a feather… A 1-2-3 inning from the M’s offensive

  20. flashbeak on May 5th, 2010 7:26 pm

And off goes the TV. I already know how frustrating this will be if I continue to watch.

  21. Coolalvin206 on May 5th, 2010 7:26 pm

I meant offense .. but that too

  22. lesch2k on May 5th, 2010 7:28 pm

Dave, why do you always put Lopez at second base? I must not get the joke or something

i think it was a typo once (or twice) that got so many comments it became an inside joke.

  23. tubbabubba22 on May 5th, 2010 7:31 pm

    Cliff Lee is reallllllly good

  24. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 7:33 pm

    Wooo Ackley!

  25. jordan on May 5th, 2010 7:34 pm

Man, Cliff Lee, just buildling his trade value. Maybe we can get a good bundle of prospects including a cathing one.

  26. Paul B on May 5th, 2010 7:34 pm

    (crickets)

  27. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 7:37 pm

Should Garza’s nickname be “The Sphinx”?

  28. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 7:38 pm

Anyone else wanna shave that hair hanging from Garza’s chin? That thing is hideous.

  29. jordan on May 5th, 2010 7:39 pm

He had to have lost a bet, or taken a dare or something… nobody would willingly grow that and not think it looks crazy.

  30. Coolalvin206 on May 5th, 2010 7:40 pm

How many innings will the M’s go without scoring a run in a Cliff Lee pitched game? ( Man I feel bad for him)

  31. juneau_fan on May 5th, 2010 7:40 pm

The thing is, Griffey looks disappointed with himself too. The last time I saw him smile was in the commercials shot months ago.

Often, he looks lost, sometimes frightened, often angry, up at the plate.

So why doesn’t he suddenly wake up with a hamstring injury and save some of his dignity?

  32. jordan on May 5th, 2010 7:40 pm

At least they are making him work for his outs…

  33. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 7:41 pm

I’m flipping between the hockey game (Go Hawks!) and this game. If Joel Quenneville’s mustache is a 10, and really its more like a 13, then Garza’s facial catastrophe is a -2.

  34. David B on May 5th, 2010 7:46 pm

Bet Cliff Lee is thinking…”My God are they ever going to score a run when I’m on the mound?”

  35. juneau_fan on May 5th, 2010 7:49 pm

Although nowhere near the Garza scale, I’m finding that Cliff Lee facial hair pretty bad too. He’s hoping no one recognizes him in that Mariners’ uniform?

  36. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 7:54 pm

    Way to start things Jack!

With Ichiro up, RoJo should be playing the role of NL pitcher here.

  37. Dave Spiwak on May 5th, 2010 7:56 pm

In honor of Cinco de Mayo and Dos Equis, I bring you the Seattle Mariners – the most uninteresting team in the world!

  38. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 7:56 pm

There’s a guy behind Ichiro in an old style fedora. It looks like someone at a ballgame in the forties (the guy was probably around then, too).

You know the games are exciting when I’m looking at the background fans in HD.

  39. lesch2k on May 5th, 2010 7:57 pm

i say they are still interesting even with the offense…

  40. Dave Spiwak on May 5th, 2010 8:00 pm

What happened to Big Red? Did he move to Boston?

  41. argh on May 5th, 2010 8:03 pm

My imagination or is Ichiro is dead at the plate recently as everyone else?

  42. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:03 pm

I knew that Wilson came up lame after that bunt… GREAT! This team is just getting better and better.

  43. argh on May 5th, 2010 8:05 pm

I think the impact of a ball on his bat may have shattered a bone or something. Kind of a freak injury.

  44. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 8:06 pm

What was Sims mumbling about concerning Lopez speaking Spanish like he was shocked to learn there are public school children in the area who don’t speak English?

  45. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 8:10 pm

An extra base hit. An extra base hit. An extra base hit.

We get one every Cinco de Mayo or so.

  46. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:11 pm

An extra base hit? Wasn’t sure those still happened.

  47. jr on May 5th, 2010 8:11 pm

How sad is it that I just reacted to Kotchman’s double as if it were a walk-off HR? Well, gotta start somewhere.

  48. tubbabubba22 on May 5th, 2010 8:11 pm

I know we talk a lot of things on this site often. We talk about Griffey and Sweeney and all that. But one question I am starting to wonder about is does anyone know what is up with figgins right now? I mean I understand it is a small sample size, but the season is getting further and further along and he does not look like a career .300 hitter. What do you think?

  49. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:11 pm

Holy smokes! An extra base hit!

  50. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

    Guti!

  51. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

    WHAT. WAS. THAT?

  52. m'schick on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

    THANK GOD GUTI!

  53. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

Wow!! Guti!!! We can win this!

  54. JeffJ254 on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

    BOOYAH

  55. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 8:14 pm

I forget – what happens when our guy hits it over the outfielder’s head and it goes over the fence?

    That was cool!

  56. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    HOLY SHIT

  57. fiftyone on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    Great call Dave.

    Griffey??

  58. JeffJ254 on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    DOUBLE BOOYAH

  59. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    HOLY CRAP… Griffey?

  60. m'schick on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    wow…thought junior FINALLY had one

  61. zzyzx on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

What is going on here? Maybe players should quit on the team more often.

  62. jefffrane on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

    I’m stunned.

  63. Backacre on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

Mariners have the lead!!! Stop the presses!!!!!!

  64. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:15 pm

Don’t use them all up in one inning now guys, save some for the rest of the game.

  65. m'schick on May 5th, 2010 8:16 pm

Who is this team and what have they done with the lowly mariners?

  66. Coolalvin206 on May 5th, 2010 8:16 pm

It’s a Cinco Di Nayo miracle

  67. Breadbaker on May 5th, 2010 8:16 pm

Au contraire, keep hitting until the cows come home.

  68. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:16 pm

    THREE STRAIGHT EXTRA BASE HITS?

Okay, remain calm. Everyone follow me into storm cellar. This could get crazy!

  69. lovethechugach on May 5th, 2010 8:16 pm

Niehaus: “My lord amighty — three extra-base hits in a row? I don’t believe it!”

  70. my sugarsoul on May 5th, 2010 8:17 pm

Matt Garza. Sigh. One run would have been a hiccup, but two runs against the Mariners? What an implosion.

  71. Dirk on May 5th, 2010 8:17 pm

As Winston Wolf said in Pulp Fiction, “Let’s not start sucking each others D—’s just yet…”

    It’s early and it’s only two runs…

  72. Flowin on May 5th, 2010 8:18 pm

No one is happier right now than Cliff Lee. In the first 15 innings in his two starts, the Mariners had scored a total of 0 runs.

  73. Kazinski on May 5th, 2010 8:18 pm

Griffey, hit that double off a 95mph fastball, maybe there is a little life left in his bat.

  74. m'schick on May 5th, 2010 8:18 pm

    Amen Dirk Diggler

  75. Flowin on May 5th, 2010 8:19 pm

Matt Garza. Sigh. One run would have been a hiccup, but two runs against the Mariners? What an implosion.

Yeah. I heard TB is going to send him down to AAA after the game. He apparently needs to re-learn how to pitch.

  76. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:20 pm

    Thats a crap call.

  77. Backacre on May 5th, 2010 8:21 pm

I think we may have found a good lineup, now replace Griefy with Milton and his shrink and we might have an offense that is not so offensive.

  78. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:22 pm

    Is Cliff Lee human?

  79. Dave Spiwak on May 5th, 2010 8:23 pm

Pat, you been watching video of Milton Bradley?

  80. dingla on May 5th, 2010 8:24 pm

Griffey, hit that double off a 95mph fastball, maybe there is a little life left in his bat.

well, he can still hit it off the hit here cafe, at least during batting practice, but it is only bp.

  81. fiftyone on May 5th, 2010 8:26 pm

Gee, thanks Dirk. Thanks a lot.

  82. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:27 pm

I really dislike CB Bucknor. He’s smug, and baits players/managers.

Never want to see anyone hurt, though.

  83. MBK on May 5th, 2010 8:27 pm

Seeing that drive off Griffey’s bat made me come out of my chair.

Even though I’ve been feeling down on him this year, I still love all the memories he has given me.

    Thanks, Junior.

Come on Lee, you got this!

  84. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:27 pm

    ANNNNNDDDDD, there it goes.

  85. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 8:27 pm

    Your 2010 Seattle Mariners.

  86. MBK on May 5th, 2010 8:28 pm

Get the lead and implode. I feel sick.

  87. dingla on May 5th, 2010 8:28 pm

    nice cover, nOT!

  88. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:28 pm

Well that lead went away quick.

  89. Flowin on May 5th, 2010 8:28 pm

Lee was so surprised he got run support, that he forgot how to pitch.

  90. zzyzx on May 5th, 2010 8:28 pm

Well that was fun while it lasted…

  91. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:29 pm

    My head really hurts.

  92. fiftyone on May 5th, 2010 8:30 pm

Cliff, those were both of your May runs. You didn’t want to waste them like that.

  93. Dirk on May 5th, 2010 8:30 pm

Gee, thanks Dirk. Thanks a lot.

Trust me, I hate being right sometimes…

  94. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:35 pm

oh my god, rally fries are still alive.. ugh

  95. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:36 pm

Johnson needs to back to not taking the bat off the shoulder.

  96. Grayfox3d on May 5th, 2010 8:37 pm

Why does it feel like Ichiro! has struck out a bit more than usual this year..

  97. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:38 pm

Every time Rob swings… he makes contact. Every time he makes contact he hits a weak ground ball to short. STOP SWINGING… PERIOD

  98. Carson on May 5th, 2010 8:44 pm

Thank God for calling Josh Wilson up.

  99. msb on May 5th, 2010 8:46 pm

How pathetic would this team be without Guti.

  100. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 8:49 pm

Kotchman has stung some balls lately, with few good results other than that double tonight. C’mon Guti!

  101. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 8:49 pm

I know it’s inappropriate, but I had to laugh at one point while reading this.

    Specifically:

As Bradley sat down, Sweeney hugged him.

  102. jordan on May 5th, 2010 8:55 pm

I know it’s inappropriate, but I had to laugh at one point while reading this.

    Specifically:

As Bradley sat down, Sweeney hugged him.

Thats some deep stuff in that article.

  103. dingla on May 5th, 2010 8:55 pm

is it just me or do the coors light freeze frame photos blow?

  104. jordan on May 5th, 2010 9:00 pm

is it just me or do the coors light freeze frame photos blow?

Just you, those photos are awesome dude.

  105. seattleslew on May 5th, 2010 9:00 pm

    No, Cliff Lee is awesome.

  106. Scottdids on May 5th, 2010 9:01 pm

On the plus side, Griffey hasn’t looked clueless tonight. 3 balls out to RF.

  107. dingla on May 5th, 2010 9:01 pm

Just you, those photos are awesome dude.

you blew that call! :) they are all right. considering the situation the photography is not up to par.

  108. visbea on May 5th, 2010 9:06 pm

little flare from Wilson gives Lee the win here…

  109. zzyzx on May 5th, 2010 9:06 pm

Damn, sometimes you just have to tip your hat…

  110. tubbabubba22 on May 5th, 2010 9:07 pm

dangit, that was close. not a bad at bat though for Wilson. And you are right about Griffey. he has looked a little better today. Trying to find some positives. Still puzzled with Chone tho

  111. peteybee on May 5th, 2010 9:08 pm

is it just me or do the coors light freeze frame photos blow?

they blow, just like the beer

  112. wtnuke on May 5th, 2010 9:10 pm

Due to the economy, the offense is no longer able to offer run support in of more than 1-2 runs per game, except by special request. The approval process for getting additional runs beyond 2 per start is difficult and the response time may take up to 6 weeks.

  113. peteybee on May 5th, 2010 9:10 pm

chone is washed up, just like griffey….hey, maybe they should hit the showers together

  114. dingbatman on May 5th, 2010 9:11 pm

Did Jack Wilson get hurt or was Josh Wilson just pinch hitting???

  115. seattleslew on May 5th, 2010 9:11 pm

Man, this offense is really hard to watch. Is Carlos Delgado is bad shape or something? Maybe the M’s have given him a call?

He can’t be worse than Griffey and Huggies.

  116. Dirk on May 5th, 2010 9:12 pm

    Peteybee – not cool…

  117. pareto on May 5th, 2010 9:13 pm

Sean White? I have a belief system that Wak is ready to give the game away.

  118. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 9:14 pm

    So is Tampa.

    No, Cliff Lee is awesome.

  119. jordan on May 5th, 2010 9:14 pm

Why is Rob Johnson NEVER in position to make the play at the plate?

  120. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:14 pm

Wow. Game over, man, game over.

  121. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 9:15 pm

I think just took out his cell phone to call his agent, right there in the infield.

  122. fiftyone on May 5th, 2010 9:15 pm

    That’s horrible Josh.

  123. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:15 pm

    4 runs?!?

The M’s won’t score four runs in the entire month of May.

    Combined.

  124. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:16 pm

    That’s horrible Josh.

Watch that throw again. It hits Kotchman right in the glove.

  125. MrZDevotee on May 5th, 2010 9:17 pm

Bad hop, bunt single, one real hit, and a throwing error by the backup shortstop…

    Priceless. (Cost us two runs)

Check that. (Cost us three runs and counting)

  126. seattleslew on May 5th, 2010 9:18 pm

It’s been fun, Cliff. We hardly knew ya.

  127. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:18 pm

This team isn’t showing any signs of winning a game any time soon. Wouldn’t be surprised to watch this spiral into a LONG LONG losing streak.

  128. MrZDevotee on May 5th, 2010 9:18 pm

WTF with the low strikes not getting called– that’s where you’re SUPPOSED to throw strikes?!?! (Sigh)

  129. TomTuttle on May 5th, 2010 9:19 pm

It’s looking more and more like the season is over before it even started.

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO, MARINER NATION!

  130. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 9:19 pm

Why is Rob Johnson NEVER in position to make the play at the plate?

Sure seemed to me like there could have been a play there if he was positioned properly…

  131. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:19 pm

It’s been fun, Cliff. We hardly knew ya.

Probably not going to see him passed mid-July.

  132. MrZDevotee on May 5th, 2010 9:19 pm

I hope that doesn’t affect Johnson’s ability to catch!?

    (Yes, that was sarcasm.)

  133. Liam on May 5th, 2010 9:20 pm

Rob Johnson’s finger is literally turning black and blue.

  134. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:21 pm

You can’t leave him in, can you? Is he even going to be able to throw the ball?

  135. MrZDevotee on May 5th, 2010 9:22 pm

Yeah, that one finger was already blue and twice as big as the rest– that looked mega painful (it hit him flush on the back of his fingers in the replay– with a loud THWACK!)

  136. Liam on May 5th, 2010 9:24 pm

With the Mariners SS being described as the White Yuni, I wonder if Pirate fans are calling Ronny Cedeno the Black Jack.

  137. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:26 pm

With the Mariners SS being described as the White Yuni

That’s really silly. I suppose they’re similar in that they both play shortstop, but other than that, they’re no way similar.

  138. seattleslew on May 5th, 2010 9:26 pm

I’m not impressed with either J. Wilson.

  139. dkmarinerfanforlife on May 5th, 2010 9:27 pm

Geesh! Are we really this bad or is TB just THAT good?

  140. Paul L on May 5th, 2010 9:29 pm

I honestly don’t know how we plug all the holes we have right now.

Figgins? Hopefully reverts to the mean
    Wilsons? Stink
    Lopez? What you see…
    Catcher? See Wilsons
    DH? I need a hug.

We’ve already had two of the smallest crowds in the history of Safeco, and that’s not including today. How are we going to salvage the next 5mo?

Chone Figgins has been falling apart the last couple weeks, strike out like crazy, and not hitting worth a damned.

And we don’t even have anyone who could spell him with Jack Wilson hurt again.

  142. Liam on May 5th, 2010 9:31 pm

That’s really silly. I suppose they’re similar in that they both play shortstop, but other than that, they’re no way similar.

It was something Dave came up as Jack Wilson was hacking at balls.

  143. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:32 pm

Maybe it’s time we invoked the mercy rule.

  144. Carson on May 5th, 2010 9:33 pm

I’d make a Gas Can comment here, but does it really matter?

  145. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:35 pm

It was something Dave came up as Jack Wilson was hacking at balls.

Oh, I thought you were referring defense.

Everyone knows Jack Wilson can’t hit. He’s the reincarnation of Mario Mendoza, except that Mendoza is still alive and everything.

  146. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:36 pm

In softball the mercy rule is 10.

    For the M’s, it’s 2.

  147. the tourist on May 5th, 2010 9:38 pm

The good news is that Sean White’s shiny ERA is gonna take a nice hit.

  148. henryv on May 5th, 2010 9:40 pm

Move your feet, Rob. Jesus. How much do your shoes weigh?

  149. Borat4President on May 5th, 2010 9:43 pm

Just got back from the surgeon with my new nose….::sniff sniff::…nope, this team still doesn’t pass the smell test.

  150. nvn8vbryce on May 5th, 2010 9:43 pm

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO, MARINER NATION!

Cinco, as in the number of errors made in the last 2 days, or cinco as in “Los Marineros de Seattle cinco en Mayo…”

  151. MsofEnchantment on May 5th, 2010 9:44 pm

By the end of this homestand, the cupboards should get cleaned out. Designated Hugger, BB White, the belief system…all of it!

  152. griffin on May 5th, 2010 9:44 pm

Ha this team is seriously falling apart.
Off-field problems, injuries, errors, bad bad decisions.
Cliff Lee I felt stayed in too long.
Wak just gave up on the game by putting in Sean White. He is/did great…

We’re one game away from 2 swept series yeah?
I’m sure even a struggling Angels team can beat this team we throw out every day.

    MORE MOVES JACK, MORE MOVES!

    Believe Big?

  153. dsmiley on May 5th, 2010 9:45 pm

This is the team that beat Verlander a couple weeks ago? Ugh, this is painful. Come on, Mariners!

  154. nvn8vbryce on May 5th, 2010 9:46 pm

Is it just me, or did the gas tanker pull up near Safeco? It seems like we’re getting torched every which way…

  155. kenshabby on May 5th, 2010 9:47 pm

Rick White, Sean White, Betty White, same thing.

  156. Rick Banjo on May 5th, 2010 9:47 pm

This about sums up my expectations v. reality for the start of our season.

  157. peteybee on May 5th, 2010 9:48 pm

I can feel a rally comin’ on in the bottom of the 9th….the microscopic Mariner faithful at the game are gonna be rewarded with a comeback for the ages…And Bradley is gonna emerge from the shadows and hit the game winning homer…..RIIIIIIIIIIGHT.

Oh yeah, how do you guys feel about acquiring Bradley?

  158. Flowin on May 5th, 2010 9:54 pm

Man. Those three in the ninth are looking really bad right about now.

  159. Marinersmanjk on May 5th, 2010 9:55 pm

I LOVE THE MARINERS! Seriously could there be a worse team out there right now? We mind as well send out the Rainiers. It doesn’t matter. A loss is a loss, and we sure as hell aren’t going to win anytime soon with a team like this.

  160. MarinerFanMike03 on May 5th, 2010 9:56 pm

At least we’re not last in the MLB.

  161. Rick Banjo on May 5th, 2010 9:58 pm

God, Jose looks lost. Just… lost.

  162. seattleslew on May 5th, 2010 9:58 pm

I think we’ve been giving Wakamatsu too much credit and patience. He isn’t that good of a manager, really. He’s not bad, but he’s not great either. Jack brought him in and we think that almost everything Jack does is gold. Well, Wak is proving, day by day, that he doesn’t have the sense or the courage to make the right move when it counts. How many times can you put White out there? How many times can you play Sweeney and Griffey without being reasonable? I mean, come on! Wak needs to grow some balls.

  163. MarinerFanMike03 on May 5th, 2010 9:58 pm

Ah crap we have the bases loaded with 1 out, we’re done.

  164. tylerv on May 5th, 2010 9:59 pm

weird how empty safeco is. i doubt its ever been this empty for a game. when the camera pans out there is literally not single person anywhere but field level. this has got to hurt for the whole org.

  165. griffin on May 5th, 2010 10:00 pm

    3rd pitch out for Sweeney…

  166. Flowin on May 5th, 2010 10:00 pm

Don’t worry. Sweeney is up. He will hit a 5-run homer guys..

  167. griffin on May 5th, 2010 10:01 pm

    Damn.

  168. Rick Banjo on May 5th, 2010 10:01 pm

    Um… wow.

Can Kevin Mitchell come out of retirement and pinch hit?

  169. nvn8vbryce on May 5th, 2010 10:02 pm

It’s gonna take a miracle to win this game!

  170. MarinerFanMike03 on May 5th, 2010 10:02 pm

    BWHAHAHAH! Swining out Sweeney!

  171. griffin on May 5th, 2010 10:02 pm

I love to see Sweeney fail. I want him to fail and fail and fail and fail until he is gone. How much must a man fail before he gets shit canned?

  172. MarinerFanMike03 on May 5th, 2010 10:02 pm

    I mean swinging*

  173. kenshabby on May 5th, 2010 10:02 pm

Well, our crowds are still better than the average Tampa crowds, and they made the World Series two seasons ago and are off to a 19-7 20-7 start to this season. And…yeah, that’s all I got.
