Well, lets see if we can lose ANOTHER gamer in 8th 9th or 10th. I don’t ever remember a season in which we had so many painful losses – let alone stacked up in a 2 1/2 week period. Come on league…

Why did I just know, in spite of having a halfway decent night for once, that RoJo the Magnificent was still going to have a part in screwing this game up?

  3. Hammy57 on May 18th, 2010 10:44 pm

Put a tent up on the field, this is an absolute circus.

  4. Dobbs on May 18th, 2010 10:44 pm

For once I’m willing to say it wasn’t RoJo’s fault on that one.

Except he tried to catch it rather than block it. You can certainly fault him for not doing what he’s supposed to do in that situation.

  5. Hammy57 on May 18th, 2010 10:45 pm

    Pathetic.

Weak groundball up the middle, ballgame.

Not even in the bad old days — which is both scary and sad.

And goodnight, all. Thanks Mariners for robbing me of an hour of sleep to watch your patheticness.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh good God.

    LEAGUE SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  11. marinerblue on May 18th, 2010 10:46 pm

League can’t play in a situation that matters. If the game is close, send him out for more tattoos, because he will not get the job done.

But, hey, it’s still a circus where you can get bobbleheads and retro t-shirts!

I wonder if the Mariners are allowing open tryouts? I can throw the ball all over the place, and then throw it right down the middle too. If that’s a requirement, I just might have a chance.

I think the ’78 Mariners may have been better than this version, except that they didn’t have Felix and Lee-caliber starters.

  15. scott19 on May 18th, 2010 10:48 pm

Is League out of options yet? Just wondering…

  16. marinerblue on May 18th, 2010 10:48 pm

Maybe Rojo should have tried to block the ball instead of catch it, mayne not, but how about League not skipping the ball off the dirt 3 feet in front of the plate? Is this AA? This is exactly what Jay fans said about him – he’s fine until something matters. What a joke.

DTFT and RoJo turned a single into a triple. Easy ground ball up the middle that our backup “SS” can’t field. Ball game. This team finds new ways to lose daily it seems.

  18. MrZDevotee on May 18th, 2010 10:49 pm

We are a bad baseball team. Manager to ball boys.

Simple. The biggest mistake we’ve made, as far as I can tell, is predicting our bullpen to be lights out again this season.

I’m disappointed, sure, but not really angry– the picture is now clear, and it wasn’t the masterpiece I mistook it for before the season.

In all honesty, much as I’ve been craving a big move by management, I’m gonna vote for Z to NOT MAKE any desperation moves, and ride this thing out. Which might be what he’s already doing, which would explain a lot.

The thing to get excited about now is the extra Christmas were gonna have this July when folks come calling for Cliff Lee.

This season blows. Sorry, I don’t have anything insightful to add, just frustrated watching one run loss after one run loss. It’s draining.

But hey Mariners fans, no problem… we’re only 7.5 games back… it’s still early… they’ll pull out of it. The sad thing… there are still good natured folks saying this and actually believing it. I would love to live life in complete ignorance.

The wheels on the bus we call the 2010 season have fallen off…

And, as much as I admittedly sucked as a catcher in rec-league softball, I could probably do a better job than RoJo!

  23. MrZDevotee on May 18th, 2010 10:54 pm

    Scott-
And the bar has been metaphorically lowered… To be better than RoJo all you have to do is keep the baseball from hitting you in the nuts.

(Well, that, and try to avoid catcher’s interference, it’s something the M’s teach their catchers in camp, inexplicably.)

There are still people in these very game threads who believe that THIS at-bat will be the one where Griffey blasts a clutch homer and turns the whole season around.

    Ugh.

The 2010 Mariners make baby Jesus cry.

The 2010 Mariners make baby Jesus cry.

I think they killed him. He couldn’t take the pain any longer.

  27. Rayvensdad on May 18th, 2010 10:59 pm

I think the most frustrating thing is that there is literally nothing that can be done. This team is flat out horrible. Complete head cases… all of em. If Felix is getting squeezed he throws a fit. If League is under pressure, he throws a fast ball so far off the plate he’s dangerously close to killing the ball boy. Our lineup goes up to the plate, seemingly praying to get hit-by-a-pitch so they don’t have to be embarrassed again and again and again, especially with runners on. Our Manager continues to use the same plan, Ichiro-Figgins, 4 bullpen relievers in 2 innings, RRS to start on the mound, Griffey playing more than Langerhans or Saunders and batting him in the 5th spot, putting Tui in LF when Saunders has been more consistent at the plate, plays LF, has speed, and has the experience at the position… I just don’t know. How do you fix this? How about cryogenically freezing your body and wake up next spring… because this is getting nauseating.

  28. scott19 on May 18th, 2010 11:18 pm

    I think they killed him.

Nah, they just DFA’d Colome…oh, wait, that’s next week!

Meanwhile, how the hell does League not have worse stats than he does, I wonder? The way he’s pitched lately, he’d almost make Bobby Ayala cringe!

  29. matthew on May 18th, 2010 11:30 pm

I’m guessing we’ll have to play better than .700 now. Zoikes.
