Rainiers on TV

Dave · June 5, 2010 at 4:00 pm · Filed Under Mariners

With the M’s playing a Saturday afternoon game, there’s no TV today, but you can watch the next best thing something even better – the Rainiers make their television debut tonight. Tune into Comcast Sportsnet (channel 179 on most Comcast Digital Systems, I’m told) at 7 pm for the action. The venerable Mike Curto will be calling the game along with Doug Sisk, who I’ve never heard of, but probably isn’t as awesome as Curto. David Pauley goes for the Rainiers, while Brad Mills pitches for Las Vegas.

When I saw ‘Brad Mills’ I did a double take before I realized the Astros manager isn’t the only Brad Mills in baseball.

But hey, a chance to check out guys that could potentially help the M’s soon. And from the look of them today, looks like they really need it.

All I can say is, thank heaven there was no TV today.

The Rainiers game tonight should be light years better.

Seriously, never heard of Doug Sisk? Honest?

    Doug Sisk? C’mon Dave! 🙂

Member of 1986 Mets WS team as a reliever. Also played for Twins. Born in Tacoma.

I vaguely remember Doug Sisk, too…though I never knew he was from Tacoma.

I’m surprised one of those really sucky M’s teams from the late-80’s didn’t pick him late in his career when he was old and burned out.

I wish Comcast would come to their senses and charge a reasonable carriage rate to DIRECTV for their Sportsnet NW channel. There is NO way I leave DIRECTV’s vastly superior sports lineup and HD picture for Comcast. Right now, I’m watching the Mariners all-time leader in Wins, Jamie Moyer, deceive men half his age with 80 mph fastballs. The Mariners current pitching staff could learn much from watching him work.

Or you can forget about our crappy minor league system for a night and watch the Cougs play online. 🙂

I don’t get that channel, unfortunately – apparently the $117 I pay Comcast every month isn’t enough to offer it.

Yeah, on DISH myself. Crap. Actually, should have just gone to the game tonight. Can’t beat the weather.

Yeah, I’d actually forgotten how incredibly lousy that guy’s control was when he was in the majors…sheesh!

Pauley really was fun to watch pitch. He’s got great stuff.

Thanks for the Rainiers thread. Great game… sure beats the watching the Mariners.

I was actually at the game tonight, until the kids pooped out at the seventh inning stretch.

I was sitting up above, in the reserved seating down the third base side. It was obvious to us that the umps screwed up the home run call in the second. Glad they straightened it out.

And Mike Wilson hit an absolute rocket for that grand slam. Holy smokes, that ball was hit hard.

Sisk had a baseball academy in Lacey which consisted of him telling me how bad I was and what a jerk Lenny Dykstra was. Was disappointed to hear he was the color guy.

Nice to see the Rainiers win though, and to see Wilson hit a bomb — maybe he’ll earn a September call-up.
