Game 67, Reds at Mariners

And what will the Reds fans do now that Griffey is gone?

Lee vs. Cueto, 7:05 pm PDT

RF Ichiro!
2B Figgins
DH Bradley
3B Lopez
CF Gutierrez
SS Josh Wilson
1B Carp
C Johnson
LF Saunders

Jose Lopez, our #4 hitter is batting .231/.242/.354 this month, with most of his hits coming in the early part of June. I am strangely numb to such revelations about our lineup. That Carp is hitting ahead of Saunders just seems funny to me at this point. Hey, Divish says we could activate Sweeney if he feels good after batting practice tonight. Baseball!

Cueto is better than his ERA would lead you to believe. This year, he’s cut the rate at which he’s been giving up home runs to three-quarters what it was last season. He’s also striking out more and giving up fewer walks. Sure, he’s no Cliff Lee, but a pitcher doesn’t have to be to get through our hitters.

    Krueger is a moran.

I was at the game tonight and transfixed by Cliff Lee’s performance — his professionalism and skill are an absolute joy to watch.

Re: Blowers and Valle — at first I didn’t care for Blowers’ monotone, but he’s gotten a lot better in terms of his timing, tone and insights. I do Valle’s commentary although sometimes I think that he and Rizzs must share an entire box of sweet tarts before calling a game . . .

The thing that always bugged me about Valle was that he said “Tremendous” way too often. (You are now aware that Dave Valle says ‘tremendous’ way too often)

Dear Ialo: Pittsburg is in California. Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania.

Dear ndrfx: If you are calling someone a moran, please spell it correctly. Else you are the moron.

Folks, we’re from Seattle. We’re supposed to be intelligent.

    Thanks and good night.

Dear Dave Spiwak: Learn the “moran” meme.

Dear Dave Spiwak: Welcome to the internet, I see this is your first time here.

Ugh. Are we to assume that Jack Wilson is going to displace Josh Wilson when he comes back? It seems to me Jo. Wilson has earned the right to stay in that SS spot.

Rumor has it that the Reds want SP, they have Bill Bavasi in the FO and the M’s have Cliff Lee. It sounds like a plausible fleecing.

    I can’t see the M’s trading Lee to the Rangers or Yankees. As a result I see the entire process unfolding as follows;

Cliff Lee will be traded to either ….
    1)NYM
    2)LA Dodgers

And as much as i’d like to think Ike Davis or James Loney would be part of either of these deals. Instead, we will recieve a few draft pics or some young talent, none of which will be major league ready.

In 3 years we will then look back and say remember when we had (at this point) 3 time CY Young Award winner Cliff Lee and we traded him for Joe Shmo, John Smith, and Nada Zilch.

    Followed by lots of cursing…

    You can’t trade draft picks.

Actually, I heard Mr. Zilch was tearing it up for the Great Lakes Loons at the moment…but the guys I really want in the Dodgers organization are those two hot pitching prospects, Johnnie Wholestaff and Gary Gascan. šŸ™‚

I don’t know why I wrote draft pics. When I think about trading Cliff Lee shit comes out of my mouth.
