We shoulda traded for Rickie Weeks instead of Bill Hall. This guy is on fire

Why isn’t Branyan starting today? Is he in transit or something?

Why isn’t Branyan starting today? Is he in transit or something?

Yes, he was reportedly still “in transit” during the pre-game show… flight delays because of weather – supposedly.

We shoulda traded for Rickie Weeks

I doubt he was available, but you are correct in pointing out that he is exactly the type of player the M’s need … better yet with a position switch to 3B in his future. He has a lot of tools – and he is a guy that GMZ drafted. He would be a perfect fit in the M’s lineup … as a #2 or #3 hitter.

HAH at the GMZ quote about Branyan. Pretty much what folks have been saying in the other threads. “He can give us some wins for the rest of the season without harming the long term plans for the franchise.” Talk about damning with faint praise!

This lineup is worse than 08 when Miguel Cairo was our 1B.

Buzzsaw through butter = Brewers hitters against Vargas.

Anyone texted in their guess on the winner of the sausage race?

    I think it’s Brat’s turn!

Anyone texted in their guess on the winner of the sausage race?

It might be the soy dog’s turn…oh, wait.

Lively game thread here today, too, BTW…

Wonder if we can crack 20 posts by the ninth inning?

    Please. Remember where they are.

Speaking of products that resemble the real thing but fail miserably, have the Mariners had a man aboard yet?

I reverse cursed them! A man at second!

    Please. Remember where they are.

Ah, yes — Wisconsin…where men are men…and hot dogs are beef, dammit! 🙂

Unfortunately, your reverse curse didn’t last, Juneau. 🙁

And, now…it’s White flag time…er, almost.

Would have been nice if Ichiro had gotten on and Branyan could have come up and hit a grand slam to lead the game. (He would have pinch hit next?)

Given the Branyan fanboys some excitement in their boring lives.

  18. juneau_fan on June 27th, 2010 1:38 pm

I guess they want to go home, since Kotchman’s batting, not Branyan.

Well obviously the ump just wants to go home…

Well, it’s such a looonnnng flight to New York, I guess Wak figured “why prolong the agony, let’s just this wrap this thing up!”

  21. flashbeak on June 27th, 2010 1:50 pm

Quietest game thread of the year?

  22. scott19 on June 27th, 2010 1:53 pm

Well, at least we hit that magical 20-post mark by the end of the game…so that beat my over/under.

You know, I hadn’t thought of this, but we have a pretty good blog here, one of the better one’s of the league– so, with that in mind, any chance we could trade Dave Cameron & USS Mariner for a power hitting 3rd basemen and an anywhere-above-league-average catcher?

Sorry, Dave. There’s not much worth blogging about in Seattle this season, so we thought we’d send you to a contender somewhere– you’ve earned it!

In the “I Don’t Get It” post, I typed this up:

Oh,yeah. I did have another thought, too.

What if Mike Sweeney is done for the year, that “scratch” for today’s game in actuality his back problem having taken a turn or three for the worse?

I could see that as an impetus for this.

Hugbot #643 hit the DL again today. With back spasms. It still doesn’t automatically make a tie-in with the Branyan trade, and the “out-for-the-year” aspect is only conjecture now…but I might just have been somewhat on the right track.
