Game 107, Rangers at Mariners

Lewis vs Vargas, 7:10 pm.

Just what this team needs – a set against the first place rangers. At least they miss Cliff Lee, who pitched on Sunday.

Adam Moore gets the start tonight, and should play most nights going forward. Interesting that he slides right into the #6 spot in the order against a right-hander. I get that Wak is keeping Saunders down in the order as to not rush him, but shouldn’t that same logic apply to Moore as well? Oh well, not that big of a deal.

Speaking of Wak, Jack spoke to the press and said “Wak is our manager” a bunch of times. There was no reason to think he was getting fired yesterday beyond no-fact speculation. Nothing like the media making their own story up and then reporting on it. Yay, conflict of interest.

Ichiro, RF
Figgins, 2B
Kotchman, 1B
Branyan, DH
Gutierrez, CF
Moore, C
Saunders, LF
Tuiasosopo, 3B
Jack Wilson, Ss

I found them online. I plan to start with the one you more strongly suggested. Thanks again.

The next thing you know, he will get a hit. Oops, that weekly quota has already been met.

Scratch that … he has met his 2 week quota now.

Seriously though … good for him. ADT

@Sodo: I think you carried the game thread this evening. Without you and greentunic – there were like 10 total posts …

    … and the Mariners won!

Your UZR rating for this evening – off the charts …

… and the crickets keep chirping

Went to the game as I just moved up here it was a blast. Mariners still have never lost a game I attended 25-0 over 18 years.

It was really fun can’t wait to attend another.

Some nice calls by Wak. (He gets second guessed too many times with little credit when the moves work). And people complain about the pitchers he brings in, but jeez, the bullpen sucks, he has very litle good options to go to. Please take a good look at the clowns we got there (DA and League are supposed to be the best and they’ve sucked). I think Wak has handled the shit he’s been handed as well as could be expected.

I liked the suicide bunt. This team has been so bad about bringing runners home that I would want to see it almost everytime in a close game (until other teams adjust) when there’s a runner on 3rd and one out or less and the batter is anybody except Ichiro or Branyan (or Guti if he’s really getting out of his slump), meaning: Figgins, Jack Wilson, Moore, Saunders, Kotchman, Josh Wilson, Tui, etc. (man this lineup sucks).
One run is better than zero, and having to watch the no-talent guys who messed up hanging their heads down as they wander back to the bench after they GIDP, popout, strikeout, whatever.

For people getting on Wak’s case because of the bunts, have you really taken a good look at this lineup? This is not a lineup that you can count on to get big innings unless the opposing pitcher really really sucks. And actually the suicide bunts have been effective, remembering Jack Wilson’s nice bunt versus the Red Sox. I think that was a run to increase the lead and we won that game by the way.

By the way, I’m sorry my post above was a little bad mouthed and harsh on the guys by saying “clowns” and “no-talent”.
The bullpen’s DA and League are exhasperating because they blew so many games we should have won, when they were just grooving the fastball in and not mixing things up. (And their comments afterwards were “tip of the cap” or “unlucky” type bunk, indicated that they weren’t getting it or just refused to do so).

Time will tell if it’s a significant difference – but I did notice a few pitches Moore caught that I was reasonably sure RoJo would’ve missed.

Of course I remember Moore missing some stuff earlier this season, so we’ll see…
