Poor Daren Brown almost gets a
demotion being handed this mess. Best of luck.

  2. jordan on August 9th, 2010 5:14 pm

Looks like he pulled one of Wak’s lineups out of the trash.

  3. georgmi on August 9th, 2010 5:19 pm

Hey, we could still go 90-72! I am full of hope for the new era.

  4. scott19 on August 9th, 2010 5:21 pm

Look out folks…the Comeback begins tonight!

  5. GoldenGutz on August 9th, 2010 5:42 pm

This lineup is missing a lot of Michael Saunders…Atleast he doesn’t have Lopez hitting 4th.

  6. IwearMsHats on August 9th, 2010 5:47 pm

Same lineup different manager! what’s that saying? New boss, the same as the old boss?

  7. Liam on August 9th, 2010 5:56 pm

    @FSNnorthwest
Don’t let the rainy weather get you down!

If TheRealMariners asks for song requests, I’m going to be tweeting Blame It on the Rain by Milli Vanilli.

  8. groundzero55 on August 9th, 2010 5:58 pm

Unless you prefer Ichi and Figgy batting 3rd and cleanup, the lineup can’t really change too much.

  9. msb on August 9th, 2010 6:11 pm

He also pointed out that he’d like to actually see the team before making any changes

  10. juneau_fan on August 9th, 2010 6:21 pm

I must admit, there’s a sick part of me that counts which ads they can’t show any more this season. So let’s move the Wak and Z playing golf one to the trash….

There was a particularly humorous stretch, where the RRS one was pulled when he was doing poorly, shone every game after he finally won a start, then has been yanked again that he’s on the DL.

  11. SODOMOJO360 on August 9th, 2010 6:28 pm

Same lineup different manager! what’s that saying? New boss, the same as the old boss?

What other lineup would you guys suggest? It’s not like Ichiro is hitting 9th. This lineup is about the best we can do with the talent we have right now. Saunders is still hurting.

  12. Farbe on August 9th, 2010 6:38 pm

How about Figgins as leadoff? Or would that irreparably damage the Ichiro psyche and relationship?

  13. Paul B on August 9th, 2010 6:50 pm

Bill Krueger was just asked the differences between last year and this year, and he rattled off about 6 things. I think every one of the things he named was completely wrong — and a small amount of research would have shown that.

  14. MariLOLs on August 9th, 2010 6:57 pm

Too much mousse leeches through his scalp and into his brain, methinks.

  15. EthanN on August 9th, 2010 7:01 pm

The only difference between this year and last year is that last year, everyone drastically overachieved. This year, everyone drastically underachieved. It happens.

  16. Paul B on August 9th, 2010 7:03 pm

What other lineup would you guys suggest?

I’d probably bat Lopez 9th. But would have to look up the opposing pitcher to decide.

  17. charliebrown on August 9th, 2010 7:04 pm

A question on Jeopardy tonight about sports teams and their stars.

“Adrian Beltre and Ichiro Suzuki”…answer – Who are the Seattle Mariners.

Evidently Jeopardy doesn’t pay close attention to the Mariners.

Evidently Jeopardy doesn’t pay close attention to the Mariners.

    Who does? 🙂

Better line-up has Guti hitting 5th.

  19. lalo on August 9th, 2010 7:10 pm

Good news, Ackley was 3 for 4, one triple and two singles…

  20. henryv on August 9th, 2010 7:11 pm

Congrats as your new commission on the HMS Titanic, Captain Brown. Just go ahead and see where this gets you.

He’s probably pissed he had to leave a team competing to manage these knob-jobs.

  21. henryv on August 9th, 2010 7:13 pm

I’m eagerly awaiting the minor-league round-up from Jay! I’m fully ready to badger him with Pineda/Ackley/Brown questions!

My man-crush on Jay grows every day.

  22. EthanN on August 9th, 2010 7:15 pm

Figgy is probably so happy, he is going to hit 3 triples today.

  23. EthanN on August 9th, 2010 7:25 pm

Wooo we’re averaging over 9 runs a game in the Brown era!!

  24. greentunic on August 9th, 2010 7:28 pm

Gameday has the lineup wrong… confusing.

  25. Swungonandbelted on August 9th, 2010 7:30 pm

What’s this patience at the plate run the pitch count up nonsense…this isn’t M’s baseball….

  26. groundzero55 on August 9th, 2010 7:38 pm

Maybe the AAA manager made them remember that they once were in the minors and had to actually TRY

  27. Coolalvin206 on August 9th, 2010 7:40 pm

There is a manager right now out of work that could fill the M’s vacancy… Piniella!

  28. littlesongs on August 9th, 2010 7:42 pm

That was an epic battle between Fister and Kouz. He is a former Beaver third sacker. I have not had this much fun with innuendo since that Bong and Puffer pitching matchup a few years back.

Entire innings of effort so far. I’m impressed with the SSS Brown era.

  29. SODOMOJO360 on August 9th, 2010 7:48 pm

Why do Dave and Mike always answer the text question right after they ask us to vote?

  30. SODOMOJO360 on August 9th, 2010 7:49 pm

    Haha, the Beaver got Fistered

  31. Paul B on August 9th, 2010 8:10 pm

There is a manager right now out of work that could fill the M’s vacancy… Piniella!

    Well, no. No there isn’t.

  32. Swungonandbelted on August 9th, 2010 8:15 pm

wow. just wow. That loud popping sound coming from Safeco earlier today was made by 25 heads exiting their respective rectums.

  33. Diehard on August 9th, 2010 8:17 pm

Wow loafie turning a triple play! The apocalypse must be nearing!

  34. MattThompson on August 9th, 2010 8:18 pm

See, this is why the M’s needed a new manager. Wak would never have put the ‘turn a triple play’ sign on.

  35. Paul B on August 9th, 2010 8:26 pm

When was the last triple play in the majors?

When was the last one turned by the Mariners? I think I remember seeing one in person in the Kingdome, but don’t recall what year it was.

  36. MattThompson on August 9th, 2010 8:29 pm

When was the last one turned by the Mariners? I think I remember seeing one in person in the Kingdome, but don’t recall what year it was.

Sims mentioned it was in 1995.

  37. Paul B on August 9th, 2010 8:36 pm

    Wow. 15 years.

  38. littlesongs on August 9th, 2010 8:36 pm

The Yankees went 42 years (1968-2010) without a triple play. The M’s have turned ten since 1977. This was the first since July 13, 1995. Maybe you saw that one.

  39. Carson on August 9th, 2010 8:54 pm

    Dammit. White?

    New manager, same crap.

  40. tristolio on August 9th, 2010 8:57 pm

brandon morrow has a lower FIP than tim lincecum. I guess we picked the right one after all.

  41. littlesongs on August 9th, 2010 9:27 pm

Woohoo! 1-0 in the Brown era!

  42. Westside guy on August 9th, 2010 11:53 pm

Why do Dave and Mike always answer the text question right after they ask us to vote?

Well, based on my observations of the cell-phone addicted… they’re probably only paying enough attention to notice when the AT&T Trivia question pops up, then immediately lose interest in the game. So Dave and Mike figure they’re not going to impact the balloting.

But for those of us playing the home version of the game – yeah it’s very annoying.

  43. Westside guy on August 10th, 2010 12:04 am

    Man, I love Art Thiel:

We could go on. But two points are incontrovertible and need to be indelible for Mariners fans:

    * The Griffey saga was one of the most disgraceful and embarrassing management episodes in club history — a lose-lose for everyone in a franchise that knows how to lose-lose.
    * The roster is the most misbegotten hash in the Safeco Field era of franchise wealth.

Neither fact is the fault of Wakamatsu and four coaches (hitting coach Alan Cockrell got it in the neck earlier) who paid the price with their jobs.

The moment screams that this franchise be lopped at the head.

Except that somehow, a bobblehead night would be made out of it, and 40,000 of the oblivious would show up at the stadium for the freebie.

  44. jordan on August 10th, 2010 12:18 am

Just watched the “triple play” and yeah, Ellis was definately safe. haha.

  45. Carson on August 10th, 2010 7:32 am

    Thiel really is awesome.

  46. MrZDevotee on August 10th, 2010 8:26 am

In a sinking season of (rightfully) negative emotions and blown dreams, let me be the first to say–

“Nice day you had there, Mr. Brown… Welcome to the big leagues!”

I mean, look at you– pulling the strings on 2 out base hits, some runs in the 1st inning (unheard of!), AND a triple play… A little beer party in the showers, post game… You outdid yourself, sir!

(Kinda like being some guy with a $10 winning scratch ticket while the banking industry crashes around you.)

    [[And Thiel rocks… That’s beautiful.]]

  47. MrZDevotee on August 10th, 2010 8:42 am
