Rainiers Playoff Game Thread

Blake Beaven takes the hill for the Rainiers in game two of their playoff series against Sacramento. They lead 1-0 after their win last night, and then head back to Seattle to play at Safeco this weekend.

You can view gameday here or listen to the great Mike Curto here. I recommend the latter.

Bases loaded, no outs, one run scored. These guys clearly are ready for the Mariners roster!

Awful lineup, the best hitter is batting sixth…

    How was Halman’s throw?
I would imagine a guy who has 14SB on the year is generally hard to get on that play? (Following Game Day from Australia).

Seriously? These guys are too good for the Mariners roster! How often did the Ms actually score with bases loaded and no outs?!?

    Wait, a walk by Halman????

As bad as the Mariners have been this year, the farm system has been quite good, with lots of teams, even Everett, in the playoffs. Z has built a good base for the future and should not be fired.

BTW, the correct spelling for Blake’s last name is Beavan.

Smoak is 4-4 with 6 BB in the playoffs…

    Winfree!!! What a catch!!!

GAME! 2-0 Rainiers in the series!

  15. GoMariners on September 9th, 2010 10:11 pm

Rainiers WIN!!! 8-5! Lueke gets the save and Speigner gets the win after giving up a 3-run homerun in 0.1 innings pitched 🙂

Rainiers are a win away at Safeco field from going to the PCL championship series. The only problem is that Safeco Field will be occupied next week… Maybe they can play their PCL championship home games at the University of Puget Sound ballpark here in Tacoma, UW Huskies in Seattle, Seattle U in Seattle, or at the Everett Aquasox ballpark???

Presumably they can play day games while the M’s play night games.

Yeah, go figure. I love baseball stats. Pitch 0.1 innings, give up a 3 run home run and still get the win. Only in America I guess. Thank god it isn’t Felix pitching, because I would hang myself if that happens within the next four weeks.

    Breadbaker,

But what about Mariners batting practice and the visiting team’s batting practice? Wouldn’t the Rainier day games at Safeco Field interfere with that? I am not sure if MLB has a rule on that or not.

  19. GoMariners on September 9th, 2010 10:55 pm

Yeah, Rayvensdad, if that happens to Felix, he will probably jump Darren Brown similar to how Figgins jumped Don Wakamatsu. It won’t be pretty.

They can find a way. It’s not like they have to worry about national television for either set of games.

In the (likely) event that the Rainiers advance to the next round, all 5 games will be played on the road with the Rainiers batting second for the first 2 “Home” games in the other team’s ballpark.
…wait. That means I can potentially catch 5 Rainiers game here in Memphis…!

@Poordispatcher – They should play at Pringles for their home games since at least half the team played there at some point in the last couple of years.
